    Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light-guide plate, a reflective sheet, a first prism sheet, a second prism sheet and a lateral reflective sheet. The light source generates light. The light-guide plate guides the light and has a plurality of first prism patterns adjacent to each other. The first prism patterns are formed on a first surface of the light-guide plate. The reflective sheet is disposed adjacent the first surface of the light-guide plate. The first and second prism sheets are disposed on a second surface of the light-guide plate. The lateral reflective sheet is disposed on the second prism sheet. The lateral reflective sheet includes reflective protrusions substantially parallel with a longitudinal direction of the light source. Therefore, brightness and display quality may be enhanced.

    Abstract: A light-emitting module includes a light guide plate and a light source unit in accordance with an embodiment. The light guide plate include an upper surface, a lower surface facing the upper surface, a plurality of side surfaces connecting the upper surface and the lower surface, and a cross-sectional surface connected to at least one of the side surfaces. The light source unit includes a substrate disposed in correspondence with the cross-sectional surface and a point light source mounted on the substrate to emit light to the cross-sectional surface. Thus, light-emitting efficiency may be enhanced and the arrangement of point light sources may be optimized, so that a required amount of emitted light may be obtained using a small number of the point light sources. In addition, uniformity of luminance and heat-radiating efficiency may also be enhanced.

Therefore, discharge may be easily activated because of a high secondary electron emission coefficient.     Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a nanoparticle, a precursor (e.g., transition metal complex) mixed with polyethylene glycol (PEG) is thermally decomposed. A nanoparticle is formed from the thermal decomposition. PEG is cost effective and less toxic than chemicals that are conventionally used for nanoparticle production, so that costs for manufacturing the nanoparticle may be decreased. Further, PEG may be reused to produce more nanoparticles.
