And more improved speech quality can be obtained by analyzing noise effectively using the noise spectral model predicted through cepstrum-LPC analysis method of the mixed signal of voiced/unvoiced sound to the existing harmonic model and then coding the signal.

    Abstract: A time-separated speech coder that codes a transitional signal of voiced/unvoiced sound through harmonic speech coding, the coder including a transitional excitation signal analyzer/synthesizer for coding the transitional signal by extracting the harmonic model parameters of both transitional analyzers after detecting a transitional point and generating sinusoidal waveforms according to a variable transitional point separating both transitional analyzers. By the transitional point at which energy varies abruptly and the time-separated coding based on the transitional point, more improved speech quality than in the general harmonic speech coder can be obtained using the time-separated speech coder by increasing the representation capability of the transitional signal with large energy variation, after adapting it to the variable transitional point.

The target vector and the code vector are converted for ordering property. A second step is generating a code book having the ordering property for sub-matrices by utilizing the target vector and the code vector. A third step is selecting a particular line for determining a search scope in the code books and sorting the code book in descending order with respect to component values of the particular line. A fourth step is determining the search scope by utilizing the ordering property of the target vector and the sorted code vectors. The fifth step is obtaining an error standard by utilizing the target vector and the code vector, and obtaining an optimal code vector by utilizing the error standard within the determined search scope.

    Abstract: An inventive method for manufacturing an array of M.times.N thin film actuatable mirrors, the method being capable of preserving the structural integrity thereof, comprises the steps of: preparing an active matrix; depositing a passivation layer and an etchant stopping layer, successively, on top of the active matrix; forming a thin film sacrificial layer; depositing a first mask layer made of a silicon oxide; forming a second mask layer; forming an array of M.times.N pair of cavities, one of the cavities in each pair exposing a portion of one of the connecting terminals; removing the first and the second mask layer; forming an array of M.times.N actuating structures; removing the thin film sacrificial layer to thereby form the array of M.times.N thin film actuatable mirrors. During the formation of the cavities, the cavities is formed into a trapezoidal shape as a result of the difference in the etching rate between the first mask layer and the thin film sacrificial layer.
