Abstract: An alternative method, system and apparatus for addressing an e-mail message are provided. The alternative method, system and apparatus include using a physical location to address the e-mail message. The physical location may be a street address; however, whether a physical location or a street address is used, Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates are used to forward the message to its destination. The message may include a range outside of which it is not retrievable. The message may further include a maximum number of recipients that may retrieve it as well as a time span outside of which it is not retrievable.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method of delivering an e-mail message to a recipient are provided. Before a message is delivered to a recipient, a determination is made as to whether the recipient is within a particular range from a physical location to which the message was sent. The range may be a default range or one specified by the sender of the message. If the user is within the range, the e-mail message is delivered to the recipient; otherwise, it is not.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for receiving e-mail messages sent to physical locations are provided. To receive an e-mail message sent to a physical location, a recipient must be within a range from the physical location. The range may be a default range or may be specifically identified by a sender in the message. Furthermore, although the recipient may be within the range identified in the message, the recipient may still not receive the message if a time-span within which the content of the message is current has elapsed.

Abstract: A graphical user interface is implemented with unique icons for registered but not mounted file systems, registered and mounted file systems, and mounted but not registered file systems. The unique icon for the registered but not mounted file systems permits management of such file systems by users within the network.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, sending an electronic message to two or more sets of recipients includes associating a first portion of an electronic message with a first set of one or more recipients. A second portion of the electronic message is associated with a second set of one or more recipients. The electronic message is sent to the recipients such that the first set of recipients receives the first portion of the electronic message and the second set of recipients receives the second portion of the electronic message.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for the display of a graphical user interface (GUI) pointer, such as a mouse pointer, in a GUI system operating in conjunction with a color or monochrome-scale display system having a display screens. The pointer is displayed in a color or shade which contrasts the background and foreground information on the display screen on a pixel-by-pixel basis. The color of the pointer is re-evaluated every time the pointer is moved to insure that the pixel-by-pixel contrast is constantly maintained.

Abstract: A visual indication on a cursor control device is triggered when the cursor is within a designated region on said display screen. Usually the user activated cursor control device is a computer control mouse, but the invention may operate effectively with joy sticks and trackballs.

Abstract: System through which a Web user may distinguish those hyperlinks in each received Web document which are of interest to him. At a receiving display station, a user is enabled to select to view only a portion of a hypertext document linked to a hyperlink in any received hypertext document. The user is also permitted to select the size of the portion of the linked document to be viewed. Then, there is provided, preferably in the browser, an implementation for accessing and storing at the one receiving display station, the selected portion of the linked hypertext document; and for then displaying said stored portion of a linked document to the user. The user may then review this preview portion of the document and decide whether he wishes to see the whole linked Web document.

Abstract: There is provided a computer controlled display interface permitting simplified tracking of access time periods to secured data in a user interactive display system with a multitude of displayed windows comprising secured data. A process is provided for tracking for each of said plurality of windows a variable parameter relative to the window, in combination with a process for displaying along at least a portion of the borders of each of said windows a color varying with said variable parameter being tracked for said window. In secured access systems, the parameter being tracked is the period of access time.

Abstract: The present invention is embodied in a system and method for providing easy and convenient access to product indicia for computer related products with a service alert agent that incorporates important indicia about the product and can be easily accessed from a single area. In general, the present invention is an electronic service alert agent for providing complete access to information that can be used to identify the product, such as serial number, model number, product number, configuration specifications, etc. In one embodiment, the service alert agent is incorporated in the manufacturers external logo, which is typically imprinted on a clearly visible portion of the product. As a result, the user can easily access all the important product indicia via the clearly visible logo of the particular manufacturer.

Abstract: A virtual three-dimensional user interactive control button comprising a first face in a first of said three dimensions including a first user interactive element enabling a user to select a first function; a second face in a second of said three dimensions including a second user interactive element enabling a user to select a second function; and a third face in a third of said three dimensions including a third user interactive element enabling a user to select a third function. By combining such sets of three interactive elements, such as icons, into unitary compact and concise control buttons, considerable display space is conserved. Also, if the functions of the combined elements are related to each other, there is a considerable improvement in the organization of the display workspace.
