  • Patent number: 6836265
Abstract: A method of driving a liquid crystal display panel that is adaptive for providing the entire panel with a brightness uniformity. In the method, the scanning direction of the panel is inverted at a desired period, for example, every frame, or within a frame. Accordingly, the average turn-on interval of all of the pixels within the panel becomes equal, so that the brightness of the entire panel can be uniform.

  • Patent number: 6720943
Abstract: A data interface device is constructed to minimize electromagnetic interference in a liquid crystal display device. The data interface device has a data input arranged to input data which is synchronized with a desired frequency of a data clock. A clock modulator modulates the data clock to provide a modulated clock signal having a frequency within a certain range of frequency so as to minimize EMI when data is transmitted using the data clock. A variable data transmission speed controller responds to the data clock and the modulated clock in such a manner that a transmission speed of the data is varied in a manner to minimize EMI.

  • Patent number: 6680720
Abstract: A liquid crystal panel driving apparatus is adapted to display a uniform level of luminance on an entire display area of a liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel drive apparatus applies an alternative current signal to a storage line on the liquid crystal panel so that the signal voltage charged at each picture element on the first gate line is substantially equal to the signal voltage charged at each picture element on the second to last gate lines. As a result, the luminance level on a first line of the liquid crystal panel is substantially equal to that on the remaining lines and the luminance level is uniformly displayed on the liquid crystal panel, and further enhances the quality of a picture displayed on the liquid crystal panel.

  • Patent number: 6614424
Abstract: A data transmitting apparatus and method minimizes the electromagnetic interference (EMI) when transmitting parallel data via transmission lines. A controller receives data inputs synchronized to an input clock signal. The controller frequency-divides the input clock signal by a desired number, and separates the data into a plurality of separated data in such a manner to that one group of separated data has a phase difference relative to another group of separated data and is synchronized to the frequency-divided clock signal. Drive circuits receive the separated groups of data and sample the data at a falling edge or a rising edge of the frequency-divided clock signal such that sampling of one group occurs at different times than sampling of another group.

  • Patent number: 6429841
Abstract: In active matrix liquid crystal display apparatus that is suitable for eliminating a flicker and a residual image, when a source signal having the same gray level is applied to at least two liquid crystal cells in liquid crystal cells on a liquid crystal panel including the liquid crystal cells arranged in a matrix pattern, source lines and reference voltage lines for applying each liquid crystal cell to an electric field, a difference between a source signal applied to each of at least two liquid crystal cells and a reference voltage signal becomes different. A gamma voltage generator is used to compensate the difference in the applied signal to substantially eliminate the flickering and residual image effects.

  • Patent number: 6317109
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus with a residual image eliminating function which can display a fine picture without a residual image on a liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display apparatus compares image signals from an input line in the frame unit using a still picture detector and detect if a still picture has been displayed on the liquid crystal display panel for more than a certain time. An output signal of this still picture detector allows a data compensating means to selectively compensate an image signal in the frame unit to be supplied to the liquid crystal display panel. A direct-current voltage component accumulated in the liquid crystal cells included in the liquid crystal display panel is eliminated by the compensated image signal so that a, residual image can not appear on the liquid crystal display panel.
