Abstract: A home system is provided. In a method of executing an application, information for executing the application is received from a device when accessing of the device is sensed, and the application is executed based on the received information. Accordingly, when a user merely brings a wireless guest device near to or in contact with an access point or a wired home device, it is possible to allow the wireless guest device to simultaneously automatically set an optimum security environment for a wireless network and execute an application that the user desires.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting a message to a plurality of wireless devices that are classified into units of groups are provided. The method includes operations of: (a) determining whether the message is a predetermined message for detecting a device in a network; (b) encrypting the message with one of a plurality of keys respectively corresponding to a plurality of groups according to a determination result obtained in operation (a), each group comprising one or more devices in the network; and (c) transmitting the encrypted message. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent a guest wireless device that is unknown to a user from detecting a home wireless device of the user and controlling the detected home wireless device without authorization from the user.

Abstract: Provided is a mode-based access control method that includes: making a security mode list which indicates security setting states of devices existing in a home network; setting a specific security mode selected from the modes on the security mode list; and making the devices perform functions thereof in the specific security mode. Also, provided is a mode-based access control device includes: an authentication unit which checks information on a user and authenticates the user; a mode configuration unit which makes a security mode list indicating the security setting state of devices forming a home network; a mode setting unit which sets a specific security mode selected from modes on the security mode list; and an operating unit which causes the devices to perform functions thereof in the specific security mode.

Abstract: A method and servers are provided for managing address information of a user of a session initiation protocol (SIP) terminal. The method includes receiving a registration request message requesting registration of individual address information from a communication terminal; determining whether a user of the communication terminal is a registered user using predetermined authentication information; and storing the individual address information, information indicating whether to permit disclosure of the individual address information, and information indicating an application using the individual address information to cause the individual address information, the information indicating whether to permit disclosure of the individual address information and the information indicating an application using the individual address information to correspond to the authentication information, if the user of the communication terminal is a registered user.

Abstract: A system and method for establishing a secured connection between home network devices are provided. Particularly, a system and method for establishing a secured connection between a home network including a plurality of non-secured Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) devices and a secured external UPnP device by creating virtual UPnP devices for the respective corresponding non-secured UPnP devices are provided. The system for establishing a secured connection between home network devices includes a virtual UPnP device creation unit which creates a secured virtual UPnP device for a non-secured UPnP device, an information storage unit which stores correspondence information regarding the non-secured UPnP device and the virtual UPnP device, and a secured communication unit which securely communicates with a secured UPnP device with reference to the correspondence information.

Abstract: Provided are apparatuses, systems and methods for providing security services. The apparatus includes a network interface unit for transceiving data between a control device and a management device, a controller for controlling provision of services requested from the control device through the network interface unit when a permit time, during which a target of security service is allowed to be given services, is longer than a used time, during which predetermined services are provided to the target of security service, and a used time processing unit for updating the used time by reflecting time during which the services are provided. When security services are performed, services of a controlled device can be provided during the permitted time according to a user or a control device.

Abstract: An apparatus, a system and a method for setting security information on a wireless network, wherein the security information of a wireless networking apparatus is set by means of a portable device which can be used conveniently by a user, to thereby enhance the security over wireless communications. An apparatus for setting security information in a wireless network includes a limit communication module to receive encryption information sorted by an access point, a key creation module to create encryption keys based on the received encryption information or encryption information input by a user, and an authentication information creation module to create authentication information according to rules associated with the authentication information sent by the access point and stations.

Abstract: A network connection device, network system and method for avoiding duplication of proxy functions. The network connection device includes a bridge module for relaying a communication module of a first communication mode and a communication module of a second communication mode, a proxy Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) service module, connected with the bridge module, for providing a proxy function of a network device of the second communication mode, and a duplicate proxy Universal Plug and Play service module, connected with the communication module of the first communication mode and the proxy Universal Plug and Play service module, for preventing the proxy function of the network device of the second communication mode from being duplicated and activated at a plurality of bridges.

Abstract: A network device for automating a TakeOwnership process includes a public key generation unit for generating a public key and a private key by employing public key cryptography, a storage medium write/read unit for writing the generated public and private keys on a storage medium and for reading the public and private keys written on the storage medium, and a control point/security console switching unit for selecting one of a security console function providing an access authority for a predetermined device and a control point function controlling operation of the predetermined device, after authentication of a user using the private key stored on the storage medium. Thus, by employing public key cryptography in which a digital signature is created using the private key stored on the storage medium, such as a smart card, and is verified by the public key, the user can securely operate home network equipment as well as enjoy a convenience in use.

Abstract: A method of automatically determining a nickname for a device connected to a network, a method of solving the problem of nickname redundancy, and a system and device therefor. The method of automatically determining the nickname for the device includes recognizing the device connected to the network; selecting the device's nickname from a recommended nickname table; and registering the selected nickname. The method of solving the problem of nickname redundancy includes checking whether a nickname identical to the nickname of the device has already been registered; if the nickname is the same as nicknames of other devices, requesting assignment of the other nickname; if the nickname is not the same as nicknames of other devices, determining whether the nickname of the device has been registered; and if the nickname of the device has not yet been registered, registering the nickname.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a network device and method available for use in non-secure use mode. A network device according to the present invention includes an ownership establishment determination unit for determining whether ownership has been established in the network device and establishing either a secure or non-secure use mode, upon reception of a use request message from a user through a control unit; and a non-secure use range search unit for searching for a non-secure use range available in non-secure use mode, if the ownership establishment determination unit determines the establishment of the non-secure use mode, and granting the user a license for the searched non-secure range. According to the present invention, there is an advantage in that a license for an appropriate range of content of a secure network device can be granted to a user even during the initial construction stage of a home network.

Abstract: A home network system and method for providing cooperative work services. The home network system has a plurality of devices connected to a network, a negotiator module connected to the devices for determining cooperative work service roles of the devices by applying device descriptions collected from the devices to a predetermined election algorithm so that the cooperative work service can be performed in consideration of a function of a corresponding device, and a coordinator module for directly performing a control command transmitted from a control device according to the cooperative work service roles determined by the negotiator module.

Abstract: A home network apparatus including a monitoring module for capturing advertisement packets, which are transmitted by home network components when the components are connected to a home network, and extracting a first list of home network components residing on the home network, and a list compare module for comparing the first list of the home network components extracted by the monitoring module and a second list of home network components extracted through a discovery process and extracting a third list indicating differences between the first and second lists. The list of all controlled devices connected to the home network is compared with the list of controlled devices extracted by a control point, and then, a list of controlled devices that were not extracted by the control point is provided to the control point. Thus, there is an advantage in that all controlled devices connected to the home network can be correctly discovered.

Particularly, the present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for converting TV-Anytime metadata into UPnP CDS metadata and a network system using the same. The apparatus for converting digital content metadata according to the present invention includes a mapping module for converting the received external digital content metadata into the digital content metadata peculiar to the network, and a search module for locating a method of accessing a program in a predetermined manner using the unique identifier assigned to each program in the received external digital content metadata.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for connecting separate networks. The network connection apparatus of the present invention includes a join module for connecting a network, to which the join module belongs, with a first network in response to an inter-network connection request message transmitted from the first network, setting a security level of the connected first network, and controlling a network command message in response to the set security level. According to the present invention, there is an advantage in that mutual connection and control between devices present in the separate networks can be made by connecting the separate networks with one another.

Abstract: A network device having a message receiving module for receiving notify messages transmitted from controlled devices connected in a network, a device list management module for collecting information regarding the controlled devices connected in the network and creating and managing a list of service information of all the controlled devices connected in the network, and a control module for searching for service information of a specific controlled device, which has been requested by a control point, in the device list management module and transmitting the searched information. Since a controlled device has a list of other controlled devices connected thereto in a network, when a message searching for a specific controlled device has been received from a control point, another controlled device can transmit a response message to the control point on behalf of the specific controlled device even though the specific controlled device cannot receive the message from the control point.

Abstract: A network management method for wireless transmission/reception of data streams and a network system and apparatus using the same. The network apparatus for wireless transmission/reception of data streams includes management information on wireless channels used for the data streams transmitted in a wireless manner among apparatuses in a network. Upon occurrence of an event in the network, the network apparatus processes the event by transmitting an event response signal including the management information corresponding to the event or by updating the management information corresponding to the event, thereby managing the wireless channels for the data streams transmitted in the wireless manner among the apparatuses in the network.

Abstract: A networking method and apparatus for managing information between a master device and a slave device is provided. In the network, a master device and at least one slave device are connected to each other via an RS-232 port. Through the operation of the network, the master device can obtain the identifiers (IDs) of the slave devices, and connections among the slave devices can be ascertained. Accordingly, a majority of digital home appliances establish a network using a communication medium, such as RS-232 provided to a fundamental external interface. The present invention enables digital home appliances connected on the network to exchange information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a device of a HAVi network system through a non-IEEE1394 network are provided. The method for controlling through the non-IEEE1394 network a device which is connected to a Home Audio Video interoperability (HAVi) network system, includes: (a) installing a non-IEEE1394 communications module and a proxy manager in a control device connected to the HAVi network system; (b) installing a havlet and a client proxy in the controller having a non-IEEE1394 communications module; (c) converting a user control command input through the havlet into a HAVi message; (d) packaging the HAVi message into a non-IEEE1394 network message through the client proxy and transmitting the non-IEEE1394 message to the proxy manager through the non-IEEE1394 communication module; and (e) extracting the HAVi message from the received non-IEEE1394 message through the proxy manager and sending the HAVi message to a messaging system installed in the control device.
