    Abstract: Provided is a side airbag device of a vehicle. The side airbag device includes an airbag cushion which is embedded in a backrest of a seat and is inflated and deployed to correspond to an entire side surface of an upper body of an occupant upon side collision of the vehicle, and an inflater configured to generate a gas by an impact detection signal upon the side collision of the vehicle to supply the gas to the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion has a height to which the airbag cushion is inflated and deployed upward due to contact with an occupant's arm. Thus, in the early stage of airbag cushion deployment, interference with the curtain airbag is avoided, and the upper chamber is expanded upward upon contact with the occupant's arm, allowing the occupant's head to be safely protected.
