    Abstract: Methods for acquiring a public land mobile network (PLMN) of a mobile station and providing PLMN information of a base station in a cellular communication system and a base station capable of guaranteeing an acquisition of a home PLMN for registering a mobile station in a home base station which forms an overlapped signal cell together with a base station operated by a second business operator using the same frequency. It is determined whether a corresponding base station is a home PLMN. Cell overlapped information is extracted from the system information when the corresponding base station is not the home PLMN. The cell overlapped information indicates that the home base station forms an overlapped cell together with the base station operated by the second business operator. A PLMN acquisition procedure for different slot synchronizations with respect to an identical frequency is executed based on the cell overlapped information.

    Abstract: A method and system for providing a picture as caller ID (Identification). In a mobile communication system having a first mobile station (MS) on a calling side, a second MS on a called side, and a base station (BS) and an MSC that enable communication between the first and second MSs, the MSC has a storage component that stores picture information of each MS. The MSC receives a SETUP message from the first MS via the BS during a call attempt by the first MS, checks whether the picture information of the first MS is stored in the storage component in response to the SETUP message, and transmits the picture information of the first MS to the second MS so that the picture information of the first MS can be displayed as the caller ID on a display of the second MS, if the picture information of the first MS is stored in the storage component of the MSC.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for indicating an end of transmitting data frames in order to enable a UTRAN (UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) Terrestrial Radio Access Network) to assign a common packet channel to another user equipment (UE) in a UE for a CDMA mobile communication system. The UE requests assignment of any one of a number of common packet channels assignable in the UTRAN; the UE is assigned a common packet channel by the UTRAN in response to the to request; the UE sequentially transmits the data frames and their associated control frames over the assigned common packet channel; and the UE transmits at least one control frame, in an appointed field of which a given bit pattern appointed with the UTRAN is registered, in order to inform the UTRAN of an end of data transmission upon completing data transmission through the data frames.

    Abstract: A common packet channel assignment method and device in a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication system is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting an access preamble signal having channel information which is used to access a base station, and then receiving an; access preamble acquisition indicator signal from the base station in response to the access preamble signal. A collision detection preamble for detecting a collision is transmitted in response to the received access preamble acquisition indicator signal. A first signal indicating acquisition of the collision detection preamble and a second signal indicating channel assignment are received, both of which the base station has transmitted in response to the collision acquisition signal. Upon receipt of the first signal, a common packet channel is assigned according to information designated by the second signal.

    Abstract: There is provided a method for controlling gated transmission of a dedicated channel signal in a W-CDMA communication system. In the W-CDMA communication system, a dedicated control channel has 15 slots in one frame, each slot includes a TFCI bit, a TPC bit, and a pilot bit, and the dedicated control channel and a dedicated data channel for transmitting packet data are multiplexed prior to transmission. In an embodiment of the present invention, a base station transmits to a mobile station a gated transmission command message including a gating rate and a gated transmission start time for gated transmission of the dedicated control channel signal, if no data exists on the dedicated data channel for a predetermined period of time. Then, the base station transmits the dedicated control channel signal in a gated mode at the gated transmission start time set in the gated transmission command message.

The UTRAN receives a selected one of a plurality of access preamble signatures from the UE, and selects one of a plurality of channel assignment signatures associated with the received access preamble signature in order to assign one of a plurality of physical common packet channels (PCPCHs) unused in the UTRAN. The UTRAN selects one of the access preamble signatures depending on a maximum data rate required when the UE transmits data.
