Abstract: A storage medium stores meta information of enhanced search and subtitle information, and a reproducing apparatus reproduces the storage medium. The storage medium includes moving-image information, meta information used to provide an enhanced search function of the moving-image information, and subtitle information used to provide subtitles of the moving-image information. The meta information and the subtitle information are recorded in separate files. Therefore, the enhanced search may be performed using various search items, and the subtitle information may be used as subtitles or be referenced by search items. In addition, since the size of the meta information is reduced, data processing is facilitated.

In this multi-session disc, which has a compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) session, a lead-in area, a lead-out area and a user area, each having a compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) format, are distinguished and digital versatile disc (DVD) application according to a predetermined file system is recorded in the user area. Therefore, the disc can be used for a music video or a presentation which requires a short reproduction time using a low-priced CD. Also, general CD players can reproduce audio information in an audio CD session, DVD players can reproduce a DVD application in a CD-ROM session, and audio CD players, which support a multi-session CD, can reproduce a DVD application as well as audio information.

Abstract: A method of verifying defect management area (DMA) information of an optical disc upon initialization with certification, and a test apparatus for performing the same. The method includes generating, as test information, defect management information, which is generated after performing initialization with certification on a test disc, which is obtained by making known physical defects on a blank disc, and verifying the test information using reference test information for initialization with certification to provide the test result. Accordingly, it can be easily verified that a recording and reproducing apparatus properly translates and processes DMA information which is generated after initialization with certification, using a test disc with known physical defects.

Accordingly, it is easily verified that the recording and reproducing apparatus exactly generates or updates defect information by performing various test modes using different test discs having predetermined defect information, which has no relation with actual defects, instead of using a disc having the actual defects.

In the reproduction state, the presentation engine performs a preloading process for reading the markup document into a memory, a loading process for interpreting the markup document and loading the markup document on a display screen, and an interacting process for facilitating an interaction between the markup document and a user.
