  • Patent number: 7392012
Abstract: An apparatus and method for receiving a signal in a MIMO communication system are provided. In the signal receiving method, a first received signal received at each of the receive antennas is equalized in a predetermined first method. Each of the equalized transmit antenna signals is despread with a plurality of spreading codes used in a transmitter. The strongest transmit antenna signal is detected among the despread transmit antenna signals, and decoded in a predetermined second method, for error verification. The verified strongest transmit antenna signal is reproduced as an interference signal. A second received signal is generated by subtracting the interference signal from the first received signal and equalized in the first method. The above operation is repeated on the equalized transmit antenna signals except the strongest transmit antenna signal.

  • Patent number: 7388933
Abstract: A system and method of wireless communication determines received signal timing deviation which is used to generate a timing advance for adjusting wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) transmissions. An adaptive threshold for measuring the timing deviation is set based on the energy level of received WTRU signals. WTRU signal samples which exceed the threshold are evaluated to determine timing deviation.

  • Publication number: 20080130725
Abstract: A method and apparatus for canceling interference during reception of a broadcast signal in a hybrid terminal including a broadcast receiver and a mobile communication terminal. In the interference cancellation apparatus, a gain controller adjusts transmission power of the mobile communication terminal, and a transmission power controller determines whether there is a burst of a broadcast signal that the broadcast receiver will receive. If there is a burst of the broadcast signal, the transmission power controller controls the gain controller to decrease transmission power of a mobile communication signal transmitted by the mobile communication terminal at a corresponding slot.

  • Publication number: 20080008155
Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for decoding a Multi-Protocol Encapsulation Forward Error Correction (MPE-FEC) frame in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) system. Packet Identifier (PID) filtering is performed on a Transport Stream (TS) packet received via a wireless network to detect a TS packet, and a table ID is detected from header information of the section data to identify the section data type. If the section data is an MPE section, frame buffering is performed. If there is a remaining portion in the data region after storage of an IP datagram of the last MPE section, zero-padding is performed on the remaining portion. If the section data is an MPE-FEC section, frame buffering is performed on parity data extracted from the MPE-FEC section.

  • Publication number: 20060105709
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting and receiving high-speed packet data without path loss in a mobile communication system with a plurality of transmitting and receiving antennas. To support high-speed data for a mobile station (MS), a base station (BS) identifies a correlation between the number of transmitting antennas and the number of receiving antennas using feedback information and determines whether to establish a relay transmission scheme. The BS determines if quality of service for the MS is satisfied when the number of transmitting antennas is grater than the number of receiving antennas according to the established relay transmission scheme. When the quality of service for the MS is not satisfied, the BS transmits the high-speed data through a specific node group adjacent to the MS.
