    Abstract: A wireless communication device, a wireless communication system using the same, and a communication method therefor are provided. When a wireless communication device operated as a slave intends to communicate with other slave communication devices, the communication-intending slave device transmits a packet where an address of a destination slave device is recorded in a header region as a destination address to the wireless communication device operated as a master. When the address recorded in the header region of the packet is an address of another slave device, not the communication-intending slave device, the master device transmits the packet to the wireless communication device of the destination address. Accordingly, the communication is performed using the address recorded in the header region of the transmitted packet as the destination address. As a result, peer-to-peer communication between the slave devices is performed, without increasing a data processing load in the Bluetooth communication.

According to the wireless communication apparatus, the wireless communication system adopting the same and the communication method thereof, a suitable transmission rate is assigned to the slave device, not uniformly, but according to the need of the slave device, so that assigning of an excessive or insufficient transmission rate can be prevented.

The wireless communication device performing wireless communication includes a transceiver for transmitting and receiving data externally, and a controller for processing the data received from the transceiver, the wireless communication device operating as a slave that is connected to a master, the controller receiving a polling data addressed to the device from a master through the transceiver, and temporarily stopping the operation of the transceiver during a sleep period which is determined according to the number of other slaves connected to the master. Since the wireless communication device operated as an active slave can stop its data transmission/reception during a communication standby period, i.e., until the beginning of the next polling slot, the power consumption can be considerably reduced without affecting the communication itself.

A master device of the wireless communication system requests one slave device of a network to perform a function of a master device for a predetermined time, and sends Piconet information about other slave devices of the network, while the one slave device receives the Piconet information from the master device and communicates with the other slave devices of the network for a predetermined time as a temporary master device. Accordingly, the one slave device becomes a dynamic master device and communicates with the other slave devices by using a frequency hopping sequence and a clock of a previous master device as they are, there is no need to transmit the frequency hopping sequence and the clock of the new master device to the slave devices, and accordingly, much time can be saved.
