Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a signal control unit which supplies an image signal; a voltage supply unit which outputs a first reference voltage when the image signal is not at a highest grayscale level and outputs a second reference voltage having a voltage level higher than that of the first reference voltage when the image signal is at the highest grayscale voltage level; a grayscale voltage generating unit which receives the first reference voltage or the second reference voltage and generates a plurality of positive- and negative-polarity grayscale voltages whose voltage levels sequentially decrease; and a data driving unit which receives the image signal, the plurality of positive- and negative-polarity grayscale voltages and applies an image data voltage corresponding to the image signal to a pixel.
