    Abstract: In a display apparatus and a method for driving the display apparatus, the display apparatus includes a display panel and a gate driving part. The display panel has a gate line, and a gate driving part has a plurality of stages and a plurality of signal lines. At least one of the stages includes a transferring stage sequentially driving the stage, and an output stage partially driving the gate line, in response to a signal outputted from the transferring stage and a driving area selection signal. Accordingly, the display apparatus is partially driven, so that current consumption may be decreased, the display apparatus may be more safely driven, and a position, a size and the number of a non-display area may be more easily controlled.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device and driving method thereof that are capable of generating positive and negative bias voltages the absolute values of which are symmetrical. The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a pulse generator for generating a pulse signal, a positive bias voltage generator for generating a positive bias voltage using (by rectifying) the pulse signal and a negative bias voltage generator for generating a negative bias voltage the absolute value of which is substantially symmetrical with the absolute value of the positive bias voltage. The pulse generator generates the pulse signal based on feedback of at least one of the positive and negative bias voltages.

    Abstract: In a light sensing element having simplified structure, an array substrate having the light sensing element and an LCD apparatus having the light sensing element, the light sensing element includes a first electrode, a control electrode and a second electrode. An alternating bias voltage is applied to the first electrode. An off voltage is applied to the control electrode. The second electrode outputs a light-induced leakage current based on an externally provided light and the bias voltage. Therefore, the array substrate includes one light sensing switching element corresponding to one pixel so that structure of the array substrate is simplified and opening ratio is increased.

According to the voltage adjusting operation, the sensing signal output through the sensing data line is always in an appropriate range. As a result, the touch determining operation on the sensing units can be accurately performed, so that it is possible to improve reliability of the sensing units.
