  • Patent number: 8044887
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of driving a plasma display panel and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. In the plasma display apparatus, a plurality of scan electrodes formed in a plasma display panel are divided into first and second groups and then supplied with scan signals. When a scan bias voltage supplied in a first subfield of first and second subfields is higher than that supplied in a second subfield of the first and second subfields, a lowest voltage of a reset signal supplied in the second subfield is higher than that supplied in the first subfield. In accordance with the plasma display apparatus of the present invention, the lowest voltage of the reset signal is controlled according to the scan bias voltage in dividing the plurality of scan electrodes into two or more groups and driving them.

  • Publication number: 20100265240
Abstract: A plasma display device is provided. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (PDP) which has an upper substrate, a lower substrate, a plurality of scan electrodes and a plurality of sustain electrodes that are disposed on the upper substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes that are disposed on the lower substrate; and a driving unit which applies driving signals to the scan electrodes, the sustain electrodes and the address electrodes. The driving unit drives the scan electrodes in units of scan electrode groups during an address period, and applies different voltages to the scan electrodes, thereby enabling an address discharge to be stably performed.

  • Publication number: 20090115701
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of driving a plasma display panel and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. A plurality of scan electrodes formed in a plasma display panel may be divided into first and second groups, each of the first and second groups may be divided into a plurality of subgroups and then sequentially supplied with scan signals on a subgroup basis. Scan bias voltages supplied to two or more subgroups belonging to the first group in a first period of the address period may be different from one another, scan bias voltages supplied to two or more subgroups belonging to the second group in a second period of the address period may be different from one another, and scan bias voltages supplied to any one subgroup belonging to the first group and any one subgroup belonging to the second group in a third period of the address period may be different from each other.

  • Publication number: 20090115693
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus. In this plasma display apparatus, a plurality of scan electrodes are divided into first and second groups. An address period includes first and second group scan periods in which scan signals are supplied to the first and second groups, respectively. Scan bias voltages supplied to the first and second groups in at least one of the first and second group scan periods are different from each other. In at least one of a plurality of subfields constituting one frame, a stabilization signal is supplied to at least one of the first and second groups before the scan signal is supplied after a reset signal is supplied. Accordingly, a reduction in the image quality of a display image due to the occurrence of a spot erroneous discharge or address erroneous discharge can be prevented.
