  • Publication number: 20130282853
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method that are capable of optimizing the overall performance of DDS middleware for processing data by managing network threads, writer/reader threads, and memory resources. For this, an apparatus for processing data in middleware for DDS includes a network thread management module for managing, using a thread pool, a network thread which has sockets for transmitting or receiving data to or from a network in an RTPS layer. A lock-free queue management module manages a lock-free queue which has a lock-free function and which transmits or receives the data to or from the network thread. A writer/reader thread management module manages a writer thread and a reader thread so that the writer thread or the reader thread transmits or receives the data to or from the lock-free queue and performs a behavior in the RTPS layer.

  • Publication number: 20130205012
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for transmitting Node Discovery Messages. The apparatus includes a Medium Access Control layer information collection unit, a Discovery Window Slot calculation unit, a DW size determination unit, a DWS selection unit, and an NDM processing unit. The MAC layer information collection unit collects time slot information for NDMs in a previous round. The DWS calculation unit generates information about the slots of a Discovery Window of a discovery frame in the previous round based on the time slot information. The DW size determination unit determines the size of the DW in a current round based on the information about the slots of the DW. The DWS selection unit selects Discovery Window Slots in the current round based on the size of the DW. The NDM processing unit sends the NDMs during respective times corresponding to the DWSs.

  • Publication number: 20130132582
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) in middleware for Data Distribution Service (DDS). The apparatus includes a QoS policy analysis module, a QoS policy management module, and a QoS policy process module. The QoS policy analysis module extracts a set of QoS policies set up by Data Centric Publish Subscribe (DCPS) and associated with publication/subscription, and analyzes the QoS policies. The QoS policy management module determines the consistency of QoS policies of the DDS, and negotiates QoS policies for DDS communication. The QoS policy process module handles the QoS policies of the DDS.

  • Publication number: 20120324033
Abstract: Provided are a network node and a method of performing discovery, which may stably perform discovery without delay or crash of a network at the time of initial discovery in a large-scale network. The network node operated in a distributed network includes a discovery performing unit that determines a discovery back-off time that is a transmission wait time of a discovery message based on levels of priority of the network node, and a communication unit that transmits the discovery message using the discovery back-off time.

  • Publication number: 20120166556
Abstract: A method, a device, and a system for real-time publish subscribe (RTPS) discovery based on a distributed hash table (DHT) are provided. The method for RTPS discovery based on a DHT includes: registering, by a participant peer of participants, the participants in a distributed hash table (DHT) of an overlay network; obtaining location information on relative participants to be discovered from the DHT; sharing information on entities of the relative participants by exchanging a discovery message with the participant peer based on the location information on the obtained relative participants; and performing handshaking between the entities of the participants and the entities of the relative participants. Therefore, the exemplary embodiments of the present invention can rapidly and efficiently perform the discover of the participants based on the DHT.

  • Publication number: 20120155269
Abstract: The present invention provides a lightweight multicast method and apparatus for a data distribution service. The lightweight multicast apparatus includes a network congestion detection unit for multicasting packets to a plurality of subscriber node terminals, and detecting a cause of network congestion using a negative response message transferred from a relevant subscriber node terminal that could not receive the packets among the plurality of subscriber node terminals. A network recovery control unit determines a recovery control policy depending on the cause of the congestion detected by the network congestion detection unit, and solves the cause of the congestion.

  • Patent number: 8149918
Abstract: Provided are a coded block pattern (CBP) estimating method which is performed using an average value and a dispersion value between blocks of CBPs in a moving picture encoder for IP-TVs (Internet Protocol-Televisions), and a block mode decision method, which can determine all block modes with only the first 16×16 block. Accordingly, since an additional operation for mode determination is not necessary, an amount of calculation and thus a calculation time can be remarkably reduced.

  • Patent number: 7386050
Abstract: The present invention relates to a half-pel motion estimation method. The calculation object half-pel, which is in the block of the previous or next reference frame, is not estimated additionally for each block of the current frame divided into blocks of a predetermined size. The present invention suggests an algorithm that can perform half-pel search only with a SAD value used in integer-pel search and a random variable for correcting errors. Since the present invention does not have to generate half-pel for motion estimation, the calculation amount is amazingly reduced and the calculation time is reduced.
