Abstract: The present invention provides an answering system for a communication device which, when set up with an automatic answering mode because a called party is absent or does not want to answer it, responds to a calling party by outputting automatically an responding message that a telephone of the called party is set up with an automatic answering mode for a predetermined time, whereby an user of the calling party is informed that an automatic answering mode of a telephone of a called party is activated although the communication has not completed yet. Accordingly, an user of the calling party pays no bill which is unnecessary when an automatic answering mode is activated on a telephone of the calling party, and the efficiency of communication system increases since the phone lines are free from the unnecessary phone calls.

Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus is provided that includes a gate pulse generator and a luminance signal processing unit. The gate pulse generator detects a high frequency band in accordance with a luminance signal separated from a composite video signal and outputs a gate pulse signal. The luminance signal processing unit adjusts a contrast with regard to a high frequency band in the luminance signal in accordance with the gate pulse signal received from the gate pulse generator. The high frequency band having a large black/white comparison is detected in the apparatus from the luminance signal, and a contrast processing with regard to the luminance signal is decreased in the detected high frequency band. Thus, the video signal processing apparatus can reduce or eliminate a picture flickering in the radio frequency band.

Abstract: A video signal level detector is configured to avoid the erroneous recognition of channels adjacent to normal channels as those which are to be stored during performance of an automatic channel detection and storage function. The video signal level detector separates at least two target signals whose levels are to be detected from an input composite video signal; detects signal levels of the target signals; compares each of the detected levels with a reference voltage level; and logic-operates the result to obtain a final detection so that a storage possibility of automatically detected channels is determined.

Abstract: A television picture image processing apparatus includes a horizontal edge gate pulse generator, a vertical edge gate pulse generator, an AND combiner for ANDing horizontal and vertical edge gate pulses applied thereto respectively from the horizontal and the vertical edge gate pulse generators, a sawtooth pulse generator, an amplifier for controlling the gain of sawtooth pulses from the sawtooth pulse generator in accordance with an external DC voltage, and a luminance processor. The apparatus prevents picture quality of a television set from being degraded due to a poor contrast and brightness occurring in each corner of a television picture screen.
