    Abstract: A display device includes: a memory; a pixel unit including first pixels disposed with a first density in a first area and second pixels disposed with a second density smaller than the first density in a second area in contact with the first area; and a degradation compensator which updates degradation information stored in the memory, based on input grayscales for the first and second pixels, and changes the input grayscales to output grayscales, based on the degradation information. The degradation compensator stores the degradation information in the memory in a unit of block for the pixel unit. The memory stores only first degradation information for each of first blocks including only the first pixels, stores only second degradation information for each of second blocks including only the second pixels, and stores the first and second degradation information for each of third blocks including both the first and second pixels.

A display apparatus including a backlight partitioned into a plurality of sections according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: an external brightness measurer measuring and providing front brightness values of the display apparatus corresponding to the sections; an image signal analyzer analyzing an inputted image signal and calculating and providing a brightness influence value of each section by adjacent sections; and a control signal corrector converting a source backlight control signal of each section corresponding to the image signal into an intermediate backlight control signal of each section on the basis of the front brightness values and the brightness influence values of the sections and comparing the intermediate backlight control signal with the previous final backlight control signal to generate the current final backlight control signal.

The method comprises a full search step determining the brightness adjustment value for each of the M×N image blocks corresponding to the backlights for the entire input image and selecting a reference block; a partial search step determining the brightness adjustment value for the selected reference block and surrounding blocks thereof for the image frame inputted following the full search step and reselecting a reference block based on the brightness adjustment value of the previous reference block and surrounding blocks thereof; and an adjustment step adjusting brightness of the backlights in accordance with the brightness adjustment value for each block as determined by the full search step and/or partial search step.

A link control register controller controls a shift and update link configuration by activating the link control register. A switch switches the scan path between wrapped cores based on the link control configuration of the link control register. An output logic connects the link control register to a test data out (TDO) of the chip in case of testing on chip or cores of system on chip.
