  • Patent number: 9300148
Abstract: A battery charging apparatus includes a converting unit, first and second charging units and a switching unit. The converting unit separately convert AC power into a first voltage and a second voltage. The first charging unit drops the converted first voltage and charge a high voltage battery with the dropped first voltage. The second charging unit drops the converted second voltage or a third voltage of the high voltage battery, and charges an auxiliary battery with the dropped second or third voltage. The switching unit performs, in a first mode, the charging of the high voltage battery and the auxiliary battery by the AC power, and in a second mode, stops the charging of the high voltage battery by the AC power and performs the charging of the auxiliary battery by the third voltage.

  • Patent number: 8901883
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a charger for electric vehicles, which has a wide output voltage range. The charger is a slow charger having an improved configuration to respond to a wide output voltage range as well as output change. The charger may achieve limited switching loss and reduced noise via soft-switching operation, thereby enabling high-efficiency large-power Power Factor Correction (PFC) and increasing conversion efficiency of a DC/DC converter.

  • Publication number: 20080228322
Abstract: Disclosed is an actuator drive system including a smart sensor module including a sensor, a sensor input unit, and a controller; a smart actuator module including a drive output unit and an actuator; and a battery for supplying each of the smart sensor module and the smart actuator module with power. Advantageously, the conventional ECU is replaced with the smart sensor module and the smart actuator module, and the smart sensor module and the smart actuator module are connected to each other by a cable. Therefore, noise or heat generated by the smart actuator module is not transferred to the smart sensor module. When one of the smart sensor module and the smart actuator module malfunctions, only the malfunctioning module is replaced. In addition, when the specification of the sensor (or actuator) is modified, the design of the smart sensor module (or smart actuator module) alone is modified.
