  • Patent number: 11835102
Abstract: A brake piston system configured for use in a brake system is disclosed. The brake piston system can include: a piston body; a piston footing positioned at a first end of the piston body and configured to transfer a braking force to a brake pad; an o-ring positioned between the piston footing and the piston body. Embodiments of the brake piston system can include a plastic (e.g. phenolic) piston body and a metal (e.g. steel) footing and can reduce fluid hold-up in and weight of the piston system.

  • Publication number: 20230135838
Abstract: A brake assembly may comprise: a brake piston configured to be movable for a brake apply or release, the brake piston having an inner wall forming a piston cavity; a linearly movable structure positioned within the piston cavity of the brake piston; the linearly moveable structure configured to be linearly movable within the piston cavity in response to rotation of a rotatable structure operably coupled to the linearly movable structure; and a magnet disposed between the brake piston and the linearly movable structure so that the brake piston is movable toward the linearly movable structure in response to linear movement of the linearly movable structure by magnetic field generated by the magnet. The magnet may function to provide active retraction of the brake piston when the linearly movable structure moves in a brake release direction during a brake release operation.

  • Publication number: 20230123351
Abstract: A brake assembly comprises: a brake piston configured to be movable for a brake apply or release and having an inner wall forming a piston cavity, wherein a groove is formed on the inner wall of the brake piston; a linearly movable structure positioned within the piston cavity of the brake piston and configured to be linearly movable within the piston cavity; and a resilient material, wherein a part of the resilient material is located within the groove formed on the inner wall of the brake piston and the other part of the resilient material is disposed on an outer surface of the linearly movable structure so that the resilient material is engageable with a surface of the groove formed on the inner wall of the brake piston to move the brake piston by restoring force of the resilient material in response to linear movement of the linearly movable structure.

  • Patent number: 10774889
Abstract: A brake assembly comprises: a brake pad carrier supporting a brake pad which is movable relative to a brake rotor, the brake pad carrier comprising a protrusion, wherein a top surface of the protrusion has at least one notch comprising a first side surface and a second side surface facing each other; and a brake pad clip comprising at least one protruding part disposed within the notch formed in the top surface of the protrusion of the brake pad carrier, wherein the first side surface and the second side surface of the notch formed in the top surface of the protrusion of the brake pad carrier form an inner shape of the notch limiting movement of the protruding part of the brake pad clip in directions toward and away from the brake rotor.
