  • Publication number: 20170134109
Abstract: A new air interface that is interference cancellation friendly is proposed. In one novel aspect, a base station uses one subband as the basic scheduling unit for each transport block if CWIC is configured, e.g., by static or semi-static signaling. By the use of proper bit selection and resource element mapping, the coded bits of a same code block are transmitted in the same subband. The transmission of a subband includes an integer multiple number of code blocks. As a result, only interfering code blocks at subbands co-scheduled with desired transport blocks are decoded and cancelled.

  • Patent number: 9538531
Abstract: A wireless communication device is provided with a first radio module and a second radio module inside. The first radio module performs wireless transceiving according to a plurality of first traffic patterns which each indicates allocations of a plurality of first slots for a plurality of forthcoming transmitting or receiving operations, respectively. The second radio module determines an indicator indicating at least one of a plurality of second traffic patterns which each indicates allocations of a plurality of second slots for a plurality of forthcoming transmitting or receiving operations, respectively. Particularly, one or more allocations of the second slots are selectively determined according to the first traffic patterns. Also, the second radio module transmits the indicator to a peer communication device, so that the peer communication device performs transmitting or receiving operations according to the indicator.

  • Patent number: 9516532
Abstract: Methods to manage multiple component carriers (CCs) efficiently in a mobile network with carrier aggregation (CA) enabled are proposed. For CC activation/deactivation, a single LCID value is used to represent both activation and deactivation command. A single command with multiple instructions is provided to activate and/or deactivate multiple CCs. In addition, unnecessary re-activation or re-inactivation of a CC is prevented, and explicit feedback for activation/deactivation is considered. For scheduling mechanism, a novel buffer status reporting (BSR) procedure is provided, where only one BSR is calculated after preparing all the transport blocks (TB) within one transmission time interval (TTI). Novel power headroom reporting (PHR) format and trigger are also provided. For DL-UL linking, various linking types are created based on whether there is carrier indicator field (CIF) in DL grant or UL grant.

  • Patent number: 9479962
Abstract: A method of TDM in-device coexistence (IDC) interference avoidance is proposed. In a wireless communication device, a first radio module is co-located with a second radio module in the same device platform. The first radio module obtains traffic and scheduling information of the second radio module. The first radio module then determines a desired TDM pattern based on the traffic and scheduling information to prevent IDC interference with the second radio module. The first radio module also transmits TDM coexistence pattern information based on the desired TDM pattern to a base station. In one embodiment, the TDM coexistence pattern information comprises a recommended TDM pattern periodicity and a scheduling period to maximize IDC efficiency subject to limited level of IDC interference possibility. In one specific example, the TDM coexistence pattern information comprises a set of discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration parameters defined in long-term evolution (LTE) 3GPP standards.

  • Patent number: 9467236
Abstract: A coexistence interference mitigation method is provided. In a wireless network, a wireless device is equipped with multiple radios in the same device platform. The wireless device also has a control entity that communicates with the multiple co-located radio modules. A first radio module receives a notification from the control entity. The notification informs a critical signaling status of a second radio module co-located with the first radio module. Upon receiving the notification, the first radio module stops uplink transmission due to coexistence interference and transmits a coexistence indicator to its serving eNB. After a certain period, the first radio module receives a second notification that informs a completion status of the critical signaling of the second radio module. Upon receiving the second notification, the first radio module resumes uplink transmission and transmits a coexistence resume indicator to the eNB.

  • Publication number: 20160255654
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided contention based uplink data transmission. In one novel aspect, the contention-based uplink data channel is used to transmit the data directly to the network. In one embodiment, the UE selects an UL data channel from a set of preconfigured uplink contention based data channels and sends the UL data transmission on the selected UL data channel. In one embodiment, the contention based UL data has a narrow bandwidth with a long CP such that the TA is not needed from the base station. In another embodiment, a small signaling payload is included in the CB UL data transmission if the size of the data contents cannot be fit in the UL data channel. In one embodiment, the signaling payload is the BSR. The UE, subsequently, receives an UL grant and sends the remaining data contents using the allocated data channel in the UL grant.

  • Patent number: 9420599
Abstract: A mobile communications device is provided. A first radio module communicates with a communications device in compliance with a first protocol. A second radio module communicates with a base station in compliance with a second protocol. A CLC radio manager receives a traffic pattern from the first radio module indicating a first traffic allocation for the first radio module, obtains timing information of the base station, obtains a native reference clock from a clock source, converts values of the traffic pattern into the native reference clock counts, aligns the converted traffic pattern with the timing information of the base station, generates one or more CLC bitmaps for the first radio module by converting the aligned traffic pattern into a plurality of WiMAX frames or sub-frames of the timing information, and transmits the generated CLC bitmaps to the base station to recommend a second traffic allocation of the frames or sub-frames.

  • Publication number: 20160212672
Abstract: A method of multi-radio interworking to provide integrated cellular and WLAN access for a multi-radio device is provided. A serving base station in a cellular network first obtains wireless local area network (WLAN) information and then forward the WLAN information to a serving device such that the serving device is capable to connect with both the cellular network and a WLAN. The WLAN information may comprise scanning information, WLAN QoS information, WLAN layer-3 information, or additional WLAN access point information. The WLAN information is forwarded based on triggering events associated with the serving base station information, WLAN coverage information, or the serving device information. Based on the received WLAN information, when entering WLAN coverage, the serving device activates its WLAN access to forward traffic from the cellular access network to the WLAN access network. When leaving WLAN coverage, the serving device deactivates its WLAN access to save power consumption.

  • Patent number: 9356707
Abstract: A method to trigger in-device coexistence (IDC) interference mitigation is provided. A wireless device comprises a first radio module and a co-located second radio module. The first radio module measures a received radio signal based on a plurality of sampling instances. A control entity obtains Tx/Rx activity of the second radio module and informs Tx/Rx timing information to the first radio module. The first radio module determines a measurement result based on the obtained timing information. The first radio module triggers an IDC interference mitigation mechanism if the measurement result satisfies a configurable condition. In one embodiment, the first radio module reports IDC interference information and traffic pattern information of the second radio module to a base station for network-assisted coexistence interference mitigation. The IDC triggering mechanism prevents unnecessary and arbitrary IDC request from the device and thus improves network efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9277565
Abstract: Methods for preventing coexistence interference between a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) radio and a collocated LTE radio are provided. In a first solution, the BLE radio adds padding bytes to BLE packets such that the total packet length falls in a specific range to prevent coexistence interference. In a second solution, the BLE radio limits the total BLE packet length to a predefined length to prevent coexistence interference. In a third solution, the data rate for transmitting the BLE packets is higher than a predefined rate to prevent coexistence interference. In a fourth solution, the BLE radio dynamically adjusts the time inter-frame-spacing (T_IFS) value to prevent coexistence interference with the collocated LTE radio.
