Abstract: In its broadest terms, the present invention includes a major housing with a central bore running through its length. The tensioning device also includes a line guide which is interconnect to the major housing. The line guide also has a central bore which is adapted to be aligned with the central bore of the major housing. Additionally, the major housing also incorporates a tensioning device to apply tension to the fishing line running through the major housing. The device of the present device finds particular application in applying tension to a length of fishing line while such line is being wound upon the fishing reel.
