  • Patent number: 10099358
Abstract: A gripping tool for extracting a pin during a surgical procedure, the gripping tool including: two lever arms, each arm having a nose end and a handle end, the two lever arms joined together proximate to but spaced apart from the nose end by a bridging portion, the bridging portion including a central fulcrum region; the nose ends of each the lever arms having one or more teeth adapted to interlock with the one or more teeth of the other lever arm; each nose end having a longitudinal aperture therein extending through the interlocking teeth adapted, in use, to align and receive the pin; such that in use, urging together the handle ends of the lever arms causes the nose ends to move relative to each other such that the interlocking teeth misalign and grip the pin.

  • Patent number: 9333022
Abstract: A tool for extracting a pin from a substrate comprises a first lever arm with a body part having a cavity in which the free end of a pin can be received, and a second lever arm which can pivot relative to the first lever arm. A jaw component is provided within the body part which can be actuated from an unlocked position in which a pin within the jaw component can slide freely past the jaw component, and a locked position in which the pin is gripped by engagement of the jaw component with the side wall of the pin, and a support is provided which can slide relative to the body part, in a direction towards the substrate from which the pin is to be extracted. Initial movement of the first lever arm relative to the second lever arm causes the jaw component to be actuated from its unlocked position to its locked position so that an inserted pin is gripped by the jaw component.

  • Patent number: 8277460
Abstract: An impactor for positioning and holding a surgical or veterinary prosthetic implant while it is being driven into position, said impactor including: (a) an impaction means; (b) an impaction shoe which is configured to receive and support a prosthetic implant in a predetermined position; (c) connection means which connect the impaction means to the impaction shoe and are configured to transmit an impact from the impaction means to the impaction shoe; (d) arms configured to engage an implant supported upon the impaction shoe; (e) said arms being biased into engagement with said implant, but movable against the bias out of engagement with the implant; (f) said connection means being adjustable between a first setting at which the impaction shoe is spring-loaded so as to bias an implant supported upon the impaction shoe into engagement with said arms but at which the impaction shoe can slide relative to said arms, against said spring bias; and a second setting at which both the impaction shoe and the arms are ri
