  • Publication number: 20110261551
Abstract: A portable terminal having a plurality of electronic components and an antenna such that at least a portion of the plurality of electronic components and the antenna are housed internally by a housing. The terminal comprising a first enclosure of the housing having a first interior to contain the plurality of electronic components and a ground. The terminal has a second enclosure of the housing for coupling to the first enclosure, the second enclosure having a second interior to contain the antenna and for facilitating at least one of receiving or transmitting of EM signals between the antenna and an environment external to the second enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20110263270
Abstract: Described are a method, system, and mobile communication device for sharing a signal received by an antenna. A signal, such as a signal sent from a global positioning system, is received by the antenna. An amplifier is then used to generate an amplified signal. The amplifier is located an attenuation distance away from a noise source. The amplified signal is divided into a first divided signal and a second divided signal, which are respectively transmitted to first and second signal utilization modules. While being transmitted from the antenna to the first and second signal utilization modules, the signal suffers propagation losses. While locating the amplifier remote from the noise source decreases noise strength, which positively contributes to signal-to-noise ratio, it also increases propagation losses, which negatively contributes to signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Publication number: 20100221257
Abstract: This invention relates to binding members, especially antibody molecules, specific for interleukin 1 receptor 1 (IL-1R1). For example, isolated binding members specific for IL-1R1 which competes with IL-1 and IL-1Ra for binding to IL-1R1 and binds Il-1R1 with a KD of 10 pM or less when measured by Kinexa™. The binding members are useful for, inter alia, treatment of disorders mediated by IL-1R1 including rheumatoid arthritis, athma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

  • Publication number: 20100210525
Abstract: The specific molecular basis of the interaction between talin and integrin ?3 has been defined. This specific interaction provides a new therapeutic target; agents that can disrupt this specific interaction should be useful therapeutic agents for a number of significant diseases and conditions including inflammation, heart disease, including myocardial infarction, and tumor metastasis. The present invention includes a chimeric peptide that has high affinity for talin, muteins of talin and integrin ?3 as well as screening methods for agents that can disrupt the interaction between talin and integrin ?3.

  • Patent number: 7479617
Abstract: A light beam is used to cut a slot in a first side of substrate. An optical sensor monitors a surface of a second side of the substrate that is opposite the first side while cutting the slot. If the light beam breaks through the surface of the second side, the sensor detects the light beam.

  • Publication number: 20080168118
Abstract: In a virtualized desktop system an interfacing module is coupled to peripheral ports of a target device. The interfacing module is connected to a network. A digital user station is connected to the network. The digital user station is configured to be coupled to peripherals. The interfacing module and digital user station use respective hardware engines to communicate via said network.

  • Publication number: 20070255869
Abstract: Testing of computing devices and/or peripherals coupled via a wired bus may be facilitated through automatically re-configuring connections between computing devices and peripherals. A switching device may selectively couple and de-couple computing devices and peripherals for testing purposes. A control device may send control commands to the switching device to couple and decouple computing devices and peripherals in accordance with a testing schedule or program. The ability of a peripheral device and a computing device to function together while coupled via the wired bus may be evaluated.

  • Publication number: 20010008973
Abstract: A photon therapy unit implement has a flexible head for conforming to a body part to be treated. The head has a thermally conductive backing to remove heat from the treatment area. The operation of the head is monitored by a photon detector to provide a feedback to the diode drive circuit to maintain the output at the required level. Operation of the head is monitored by a microprocessor which performs a diagnostic function and reports on defects. The treatment protocol is generated by a main control unit that formulates a treatment waveform from a set of treatment protocols. The selection of protocols is performed through a graphical user interface (GUI) which allows selection of treatment areas and customization of treatment as well as maintaining patient history and annotations.
