Publication number: 20220126034Abstract: My powder inhalers are described. The dry powder inhaler includes an air inlet, a reservoir and an airway assembly. A mouthpiece airway is connected to a first airway of the airway assembly. An airway head is attached to the airway assembly and it extends into the reservoir cavity. In certain embodiments, the airway head has a sharpened or beveled edge. At least one airway assembly opening is present in the airway assembly for connecting the reservoir cavity to the first airway. Methods for dispensing dry powder into an airway of a dry powder inhaler and inhaling dry powder from a dry powder inhaler is also disclosed. Embodiments of a dry powder inhaler having a two-stage air movement are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2020Publication date: April 28, 2022Applicant: PHILIP MORRIS PRODUCTS S.A.Inventors: Robin Craig Cocker, Christopher Iain Davidson, Steve Han, Ben Alexander King, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, James Tibbatts

Publication number: 20210402113Abstract: The present invention provides dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices (100) for dispensing dry powder and methods for using the same. The DPI devices feature vortex mechanisms for directing air in a turbulent manner sufficient to entrain an amount of a dry powder dose for delivery into a user's lungs. The DPI devices feature replaceable dry powder cartridges (200). The DPI devices also feature a retractable configuration for storage and for accidental dispensing of dry powder. The DPI devices dispense dry powder in controlled dosages.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2020Publication date: December 30, 2021Applicant: PHILIP MORRIS PRODUCTS S.A.Inventors: Robin Craig Cocker, Ben Alexander King, Christopher Iain Davidson, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, Steve Han, James Tibbatts

Publication number: 20210386945Abstract: The present invention relates to inhaler devices (701), and in particular to devices provided with medicament carriers containing individual pockets or blisters of powdered medicament covered by a lidding sheet such as a lidding foil. A common actuator (710) is provided for controlling movement of an indexing system (712,714) for advancing/indexing a dose and an opening system (790,791) for opening a dose such that progression of the opening system (790,791) is disproportional to progression of the indexing system (712,714) during movement of the common actuator (710).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2019Publication date: December 16, 2021Applicant: COALESCE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT LTDInventors: David Gregory AHERN, Robin Craig COCKER, Ewen Humphrey CHRISTIE, Christopher Iain DAVIDSON, James Anthony TIBBATTS, Paul Christopher Edward MUTTI, James Terence COLLINS

Patent number: 10716904Abstract: The present invention provides in part dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices for dispensing dry powder and methods for using the same. The DPI devices feature exchangeable cartridges having drum mechanisms that prepare metered doses of dry powder, and are able to direct air in a turbulent manner sufficient to entrain and deagglomerate a dose of dry powder for delivery into a user's lungs. The DPI devices feature a reservoir of dry powder advanced by a plunger, as well as a gauge that advances with the plunger to indicate the amount of dry powder remaining in the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Philip Morris Products S.A.Inventors: James Tibbatts, Robin Craig Cocker, Ben Alexander King, Christopher Iain Davidson, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, Steve Han

Publication number: 20170105707Abstract: The present invention relates to a sample collector comprising: an inner flexible collection bag having an opening along its upper edge at least when open for use; and an outer support for supporting the collection bag at its opening. The support has sides that can fold together for storage and open to provide a structure in which one end has a spout and another end has a transverse portion. The sides include fold lines to enable bending of the sides from a storage configuration into an open configuration. The collection bag being connected to the outer support such that on opening of the outer support the bag is held open for collection of a sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2016Publication date: April 20, 2017Inventors: Richard JOSEPH SENIOR, Roderick Iain DAVIDSON

Patent number: 8870390Abstract: A low Z-height projection system includes a display panel for displaying a grating pattern that has gratings extended in a first direction. A projection lens system is also included and projects the grating pattern displayed on the display panel onto a surface. The projection lens system is a truncated circular lens system that has a first lens width in the first direction and a second lens width in a second direction. The first lens width is less than the second lens width. The first and second directions are orthogonal.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2012Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignee: OmniVision Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Iain Davidson

Patent number: 8714387Abstract: A package has two complementary casing-parts (102,103) having a central, outwards-extending depression (106,107) for accommodating opposite sides of a container C. One of the casing-parts (102) is lined with a super-absorbent material lining (108). The depression in each casing-part is surrounded by a respective surround (109, 110). The surrounds have margins (112,114), which are stepped in the opposite direction from the depressions, i.e. inwards of the closed condition of the package. With the interposition of the lining (108), the margins abut when the casing-parts are closed together.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2008Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Inventor: Roderick Iain Davidson

Patent number: 7762400Abstract: A packaging tray including an outer tray (1), having a base (4) and side walls (2) defining a packaging space and false bottom (10) of the tray defining a discrete exudate-collection compartment immediately above the base and reducing the packaging space by the size of the discrete compartment. The false bottom is peripherally connected to the walls and provided with an array of perforations (36) in a discrete minor central region (20) to allow exudate to pass through itself into the exudate-collection compartment. In addition, the tray includes means (28, 30) for gas transfer between the exudate-collection compartment and the packaging space, in addition to and separate from the perforations in the false bottom, and including means inhibiting flow exudate back into the packaging space.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2005Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Easy Pad LimitedInventors: Robert Sinclair Hall, Roderick Iain Davidson
