The cavity can contain a fluid to be delivered. The sealed flexible material includes at least one breakable seal. The housing includes a rigid side wall supporting said sealed flexible material. In some cases, methods provided herein can deliver fluid by pressing against a top surface of said sealed flexible material. In some cases, systems provided herein can include a controller adapted to receive said cartridge and press a top surface of said sealed flexible material to pressurize said fluid in said cavity to a pressure sufficient to deliver fluid past said breakable seal.

Abstract: A dry powder inhaler for pulmonary or nasal use, comprising at least an inhaler body and a cartridge with one or more compartments each containing one dose of a drug. The compartment has holes to admit air and holes to deliver powder, which, in use, communicate with an inhalation channel in the inhaler body. To prevent the powder from leaking through the compartment holes before use, the air admission holes are of reduced dimension, thereby blocking or hindering powder exit under the force of gravity. When the cartridge is inserted inside the inhaler body, all its holes can be blocked. By sliding the cartridge in relation to the body until the inhalation position is reached, the holes come into in fluid communication with one another and with the inhalation channel, thereby allowing a flow of air to disperse and entrain the dose through the mouthpiece. Five embodiments are disclosed.

The at least one medicament reservoir is formed in polyester material. Penetration of moisture through the walls of the medicament reservoir is considerably reduced.

Abstract: A valve mechanism is provided for use in an inhaler comprising a pressurized container, and a metering chamber, and a valve mechanism wherein the inlet and outlet valves are separate and can be operated independently. The pressure of the fluid in the canister is used to aid the opening of the outer valve so reducing the force to fire a dose. A variant of the valve mechanism allows the user to select from a range of dose volumes by appropriate orientation of the stem.

Abstract: A dispenser has a body 201 with a mouthpiece 202 and a pivoted mouthpiece cover 203. The mouthpiece is formed as an aperture 2021 in a separate body part 2012 clipped to a main body part 2011. The mouthpiece part is cut away 2014 with respect to the medicament can 211 fitted to the body to define an air inlet exposed by the cover when this is open. The cover is pivoted about an axis 204 low in the body at the joint between the two body parts. Integrally moulded with the cover 203 is a half round shaft 2031, which carries a cam arrangement 205 comprising a pair of cam lobes 2051, 2052 and an intermediate shaft 2053. The can 211 is held in an opening 210 at the upper end of the main body part 2011 by a pair of location pins 2101 in openings 2102 in sidewalls of the body part. A junction member 217 is slidably accommodated in the body with the ribs engaging in grooves 218 in its periphery.

However, these mouthpieces do not prevent the build up of particulate drug on the walls of the mouthpiece. Thus, there is provided a mouthpiece (10) for use in an inhaler for particulate medicament, the mouthpiece having an inlet (12) and an outlet (13) for particulate medicament, a helical member (15) disposed between the inlet and the outlet for, in use, imparting a rotational movement to an air flow which is drawn through the mouthpiece and in which medicament is entrained, wherein the helical member (15) is, in use, axially movable between a first position and a second position such that it restricts the build up of medicament on the inside of the mouthpiece (10).
