    Abstract: There is disclosed a process for abstracting electro-negative elements from hetero-molecules, comprising reacting said hetero-molecules under anhydrous conditions with reactive organo-silicon intermediates selected from the group consisting of silyl free radicals and silylenes. The process is particularly suitable for the destruction of existing chlorinated fluorocarbons.
