  • Patent number: 8814773
Abstract: A booklet maker having a first crease device forming a folded edge on a set of sheets. A second crease device is disposed downstream along a booklet processing path from the first crease device. The second crease device includes an edge engaging mechanism translatable in a direction transverse to the path of booklet travel. The edge engaging mechanism is compressively engagable with the folded edge of a booklet for forming a crease in the booklet.

  • Patent number: 8613444
Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises a marking device, a media path positioned to supply sheets of media to the marking device, and a media supply tray positioned to supply the sheets of media to the media path. Further, a pair of rollers forms a nip adjacent the media supply tray. The rollers rotate in opposite directions to cause the sheets of media to move from the media supply tray to the media path. Additionally, a first frame structure supports a first roller of the pair of rollers. The first frame structure can be in a fixed position and holds the first roller in a fixed location. A second frame structure supports a second roller of the pair of rollers. The second frame structure is adjustable in a first direction toward the first roller and has a variable pivot position allowing the second frame structure to move in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 8540233
Abstract: A method for providing increased performance in fully active retard feeders includes driving a feed roll and retard roll pair of a reprographic apparatus backwards periodically at the start of the machine or during idle periods to compensate for contamination buildup and/or roll “set” when left in position overnight.

  • Publication number: 20130221602
Abstract: A fully active retard feeder is configured to move a partially feed sheet back into a feed tray in response to a jam either in the nip of the feed head or in a location downstream of the feed head and thereby ease user jam clearance.

  • Patent number: 7454159
Abstract: A magnetic latch for removably latching a first member to a second member includes a magnet emitting a magnetic field carried by the first member and a magnetically attractive catch plate carried by the second member. A release mechanism is provided for moving the magnet relative to the catch plate from a first position in which the catch plate is strongly engaged with the magnetic field to a second position in which the catch plate is weakly engaged with the magnetic field. The release mechanism includes a lever, pivotally mounted to one of the first and second members and a biasing member carried by the other of the first and second members, the lever engaging the biasing member during pivoting of the lever. The release mechanism enables the magnetic engagement of the members to be broken with a relatively small applied force.

  • Patent number: 6393161
Abstract: In a document handler associated with an input scanner, such as for a digital copier or facsimile machine, an image-bearing sheet is moved over a relatively narrow window, through which the image is recorded by a photosensitive chip. When a spot of dirt attaches to the window, a streak results in the image data. This streaking problem is addressed by detecting image data consistent with such a streak, and applying a suitable correction algorithm to the image data. The suitable algorithm is chosen based on the thickness of the streak and the nature of the image data.
