    Abstract: A selective and extended sympathetic nerve block is achieved by administration of a botulinum toxin at and/or around a targeted sympathetic ganglion. The toxin induced sympathetic block finds use for the treatment of sympathetically maintained pain. The toxin induced sympathetic block is also used to treat cardiovascular conditions of sympathetically maintained vasoconstriction; and of undesirable smooth muscle spasm.
