  • Patent number: 7266117
Abstract: The system of the present invention provides data transmission speeds at or in excess of 10 gigabits per second between one or more source devices and one or more destination devices. The system comprises a media access control (MAC) interface to facilitate receipt and transmission of packets over a physical interface. A first field programmable gate array is coupled to the MAC interface and operative to receive packets from the MAC interface and configured to perform initial processing of packets, which are dispatched to a first memory. A second field programmable gate array is operative to retrieve packets from the first memory and configured to compute an appropriate destination, which is used to dispatch packets to a backplane. A third field programmable gate array is provided that is operative to receive packets from the backplane and configured to organize the packets for transmission, which are dispatched to a second memory.

  • Patent number: 7077410
Abstract: A suspension system connects a wheel axle to a vehicle frame and includes a trailing arm connected at one end to the wheel axle. A pair of extension members are connected to the other end of the trailing arm and extend laterally in opposite directions along a pivot axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the arm. A pair of supports extend along the pivot axis and are connected to the frame and rotatably connected to the extension member to permit pivotal movement of the trailing arm with respect to the frame about the pivot axis. The supports and extension members are dimensioned to provide a gap between the supports and extension members. A pair of resiliently deformable bearing members are interposed between the extension members and the supports in the gap. The gap and the bearing members are of sufficient width to permit limited rotational movement of the axle with respect to the frame about a vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 7020167
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring and recording traffic at nodes in a data transmission network. In particular the invention provides a method of accurately counting individual activities of traffic at individual nodes. The invention is carried out in hardware by using a counter or number of counters which count individual activities of traffic on a preset activity condition being sensed at a node. The invention has the advantage that accurate measurement of traffic at a node is achieved. The invention is also easy to implement in hardware and overcomes the problems inherent in present software solutions.

  • Patent number: 6877261
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for tensioning fabric and particularly, but not exclusively, to a method and apparatus for tensioning a fabric support by a frame in a marquee. A tensioner (2) is provided with a mounting device (4) for mounting the tensioner to a frame (100) of a marquee and a connector (6, 8, 42), which connects the mounting device (4) to a fabric to be tensioned. The connector (6, 8, 42) includes a resiliently bendable elongate member, (6, 8) which is resiliently connected to the mounting device (4) and includes an engagement device (42) which engages the fabric so as to permit a transfer of force between the fabric and the mounting device (4). The tensioner thereby allows fabric to be tensioned in a convenient and rapid manner.

  • Patent number: 6584239
Abstract: A doped slab region is described for use around a ridge waveguide, for controlling the refractive index of the waveguide material. Instead of simply diffusing dopant in from a surface of the slab region adjacent the waveguide, an area of the slab region is etched and dopant diffused in from a side face of the etched region. Thus, the dopant profile is established from a horizontal direction, allowing the profile to be controlled. A simple vertically uniform doping profile can thus be provided, leading to a vertically uniform current density, or an anisotropic wet etch can be applied after the initial etch to provide a profile which concentrates the current density at a selected height in the slab region.
