Abstract: An insert for a surgical apparatus tray and method of preparing a surgical apparatus tray are described. The insert may include an upper part defining at least one support configured to receive an item of surgical equipment, and defining a first plane and having a plurality of edges defining a polygonal shape. A first side wall may extend downwardly from a first edge of the upper part and define a second plane. The first side wall may have a first, male attachment feature. A second side wall may extend downwardly from a second edge of the upper part and have a second, female attachment feature. The first attachment feature may be configured to mate with the form of the female attachment feature when the first side wall is moved in a direction parallel to the first plane and the second plane to connect the insert to a further insert having a similar construction.

  • Publication number: 20220218362
Abstract: A surgical rotational tool driver and method. The driver includes a driveline extending within a hollow shaft and a head part including connection features for connecting to a connection member of a surgical rotational tool. The connection features of the head part include a housing and a pair of jaw member each including jaws for receiving the connection member. Each jaw member is pivotally mounted for rotation between: a first position for receipt of the connection member and a second position for retaining the connection member. The connection features of the head part further include a locking mechanism including a pair of catches for engaging with a respective catch of each jaw member to lock the jaw members in the second position. The locking mechanism also includes a release member slideably moveable within the housing to release the catches of the locking mechanism from the catches of the jaw members.

  • Patent number: 11213301
Abstract: The invention provides a reamer handle comprising: a shank having a distal tool coupling end adapted to releasably couple to a part of a surgical tool and a proximal end; a retractable catch which is linearly displaceable along the shank between a non-retracted position in which the catch captures the surgical tool within the distal tool coupling end of the tool holder and a retracted position in which the catch enables the tool to be released from the distal tool coupling end; a biasing member configured to bias the catch in the non-retracted position; and a sleeve extending along the shank. The sleeve comprises: a distally located catch contacting portion and a proximally located handle portion for manually displacing the sleeve relative to the shank such that displacement of the catch contacting portion moves the retractable catch between the non-retracted position and the retracted position to enable capture and release of the tool from the tool holder.

  • Publication number: 20210386499
Abstract: Surgical instrument trays and related methods are described. The surgical instrument tray includes a tray having a plurality of side walls and a base which define an interior space. An insert is located within the interior space of the tray and is removable from the interior space. A lid is provided for closing the interior space and which is removable from the tray. The insert has an upper surface including a plurality of outlines, each outline having the shape of the outline of a corresponding surgical instrument or part of a surgical instrument, each outline being in the form of a continuous strip, and wherein each outline has at least one support arranged to receive and releasably hold the corresponding surgical instrument or part of the surgical instrument above and in registration with the outline.

  • Publication number: 20210015494
Abstract: An acetabular reamer handle including a shaft having a distal end, a neck part having a longitudinal axis, a driveline extending through the shaft and the neck part, and a locking mechanism. A distally located head part of the driveline is mounted for rotation about the longitudinal axis of the neck part and is connectable to a reamer. The distal end of the shaft and a proximal end of the neck part are pivotally attached to allow the shaft to be tilted relative to the longitudinal axis. The tilting can allow part of the acetabulum and/or reamer that is otherwise obscured to be viewed. The locking mechanism includes an engagement member having an engagement surface located at the distal end of the shaft. The engagement member is moveable distally to urge the engagement surface against the proximal end of the neck part.

  • Publication number: 20200375614
Abstract: An acetabular reamer handle and a method of reaming an acetabulum. The handle includes a hollow shaft having a plurality of shaft sections including a distal shaft section having a distal end and a proximal end and an additional shaft section having a distal end that is pivotally attached to the proximal end of the distal shaft section to allow the additional shaft section and the distal shaft section to be adjustably oriented at an angle. The handle also includes a hollow neck part having a longitudinal axis. The handle further includes a drive line having a head part mounted for rotation about the longitudinal axis and connectable to a reamer. A distal end of the distal shaft section is pivotally attached to a proximal end of the neck part to allow the distal shaft section and the neck part to be adjustably oriented at an angle.

  • Publication number: 20200163683
