Abstract: A system, computer readable medium and method for managing inventory of blood component collection soft goods and for preventing the use of quarantined soft goods. The system comprises a blood collection instrument, system computer, and a data interface. The blood component collection instrument collects a blood component from the blood component donor. The system computer is operably connected to the blood component collection instrument and runs a blood component collection application for at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The system computer is in data communication with a system database that has a blood component collection soft good inventory. The interface is operably connected to the system computer, and has a quarantine field for indicating that at least a portion of the blood component collection soft good inventory is quarantined.

Abstract: A system, method and computer readable medium for managing a procedure in a blood component collection facility is disclosed. The system includes a donor identifier, an operator identifier a blood collection instrument, system computer, and a data interface. The donor identifier corresponds to a blood component donor and the operator identifier corresponds to the blood collection instrument operator. The blood component collection instrument collects a blood component from the blood component donor. The system computer is operably connected to the blood component collection instrument and includes a software application that defines at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The interface includes a reader and is operably connected to the system computer. The interface transmits the blood component donor identifier and the blood component collection instrument identifier to the system computer.

Abstract: A system for networking the blood component collection facility is disclosed. The facility includes a plurality of independently operable blood component collection instruments. At least one of the blood component collection instrument is an existing collection instrument having a first communication protocol. The system comprises a system computer, a communication conduit, a second communication protocol, and a protocol converter. The system computer comprises a memory and a code segment which defines at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The communication conduit operably connects each of the plurality of blood component collection instruments to the system computer. The second communication protocol facilitates communication on the communication conduit between the system computer and each of the collection instruments.

The system includes a blood collection instrument for collecting a blood component from a blood donor. The blood donor has a blood donor identifier, and the blood collection instrument has a blood collection instrument identifier. The system further includes a blood collection kit having a blood collection kit identifier. The blood collection kit is operably connected to the blood donor and the blood collection instrument. A system server is also included. The system server is operably responsive to the blood collection instrument and comprises a program having a plurality of segments defining a blood collection process. The program is capable of monitoring a status of the blood collection kit. The system further comprises an operator interface which is operably connected to the system server.
