Patent number: 10234378Abstract: A method and system for reducing the effect of distortions on the baseline signal in an absorption spectroscopy system used for the detection or measurement of chemical species in a medium, whereby one or more correlations or convolutions are performed on the signal using a kernel function. The shape of the kernel function is chosen to reduce the influence of the baseline distortions on the processed measurand determination. The kernel function may also be chosen to enhance the absorption signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2016Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: Servomex Group LimitedInventors: Bahram Alizadeh, James Hobby, Martin Lopez, Ian Gaskin

Patent number: 6990897Abstract: An installation head adapted to receive a fastener for securing the fastener to a sheet metal member on actuation of the head by a press. The head includes a main block having a bore, a cylindrical press member disposed within and supported by the bore, the press member having an arrangement for receiving and holding the fastener, wherein the cylindrical press member is rotatable in the bore between a first position, in which the fastener is received by the arrangement for receiving and holding the fastener and held in position relative to the press member, and a second position for actuation of the press.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2000Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: BAS Components LimitedInventors: Ian Gaskin, Andrew Rodgers, John White

Publication number: 20030116038Abstract: A press has a bush (56) set in a cylinder (54) which may then be rotated to position a stud (14) over a sheet of metal into which it is to be inserted. The cylinder is then lowered to insert and fix the stud in place. In a stud delivery system, studs (14) are fed through a delivery tube (12) shank first into a breech (20) in which a pair of pivoted members (24, 26) form a half barrel. The pivoted members (24, 26) are biased towards each other and their ends remote from the delivery tube (12) are shaped to form a conical aperture (34). A thrust member (38) can push a stud (14) along the breech (20) so that the stud tip passes into the tapered aperture (34), the stud shaft then being horizontal. As the stud is pushed further along the breech, passage of the stud bead (18) through the tapered aperture (34) forces the pivoted members (24, 26) apart. After passage of the head (18), the pivot members (24, 26) return to their former position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2002Publication date: June 26, 2003Inventors: Ian Gaskin, Andrew Rodgers, John White

Patent number: 6526650Abstract: A feed head has a delivery path along which nuts are fed to a pressing station in the feed head, the pressing station having a pressing die which is reciprocated transversely to the delivery path under the action of a press to fasten a nut to a sheet metal member. A cam is provided to reciprocate the pressing die manually to facilitate clearance of blockages in the feed head, and also to hold the pressing die in its lowered position to allow operation of the press without operating the die. A sensor for detecting nuts at the pressing station is positioned on the end of the delivery path, enabling a narrower feed head design. A electrical coupling and nut delivery tube are integrated to facilitate connection in confined spaces.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2000Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: BAS Components LimitedInventor: Ian Gaskin
