  • Publication number: 20160084947
Abstract: A method of calibrating a side scan sonar system by allowing the sonar transducer to roll with respect to the plane of a reference surface to be scanned; measuring the roll angle of the transducer during collection of backscattered sonar data; using backscattered sonar data from a range of transducer roll angles and the measured roll angle to decouple the operating characteristics of the transducer from the angular backscatter characteristics of the reference surface; thereby obtaining an estimate of the operating characteristics of the transducer.

  • Patent number: 5231118
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressure-activatible correcting tape, which has a conventional carrier and a lift-off layer for removing typed or printed type images, the lift-off layer containing a wax, a binder and optionally further additives. This correcting tape is characterized in that the lift-off layer contains approximately 5 to 35% by weight of butyl rubber, approximately 30 to 90% by weight of wax and approximately 0.1 to 5% by weight of a dispersant having a dispersing action in an aqueous medium for the aforementioned substances. The lift-off layer can be produced by means of an aqueous coating liquid, which is environmentally advantageous compared with organic dispersants. This correcting tape can be used without restriction and independently of the type of typewriter.

  • Patent number: 4886386
Abstract: An overlappingly overstrikeable ink ribbon for matrix or needle printing systems is described having a carrier film and an ink-releasing coating, as well as optionally further conventional intermediate coatings. A rubber-elastic layer is formed on the needle impression side. A process for producing this ribbon is also described. This ribbon has many advantages compared with known ribbons. It protects the print head, withstands the needle pressure for a longer time due to the elastic layer and improves the printing definition. It can be produced by coextrusion of the starting materials of the carrier film and the rubber-elastic layer.

  • Patent number: 4884908
Abstract: An overlappingly overstrikeable ribbon is described having a carrier film (2) and an ink-releasing coating (3) in the form of a plastic matrix applied thereto, which contains at least one fatty dye and/or oil-soluble dye and optional carbon black and/or other ink pigments, as well as further conventional additives. According to FIG. 1 the ink-releasing coating (3) can be subdivided into differently colored coatings (4a, 4b and 4c) representing the three primary colors and a black coating (4d) for producing color prints. The ink-releasing coating contains no fillers and contains a polyethoxylated fatty acid ester of a polyhydric alcohol as a solvent for the dye(s). This ribbon has advantages when used in continuously full cassettes which are more particularly used in matrix printing systems.
