Abstract: A medication dispensing system including a filling apparatus, a dispensing apparatus and a refillable canister having a plurality of dosage compartments. The canister may be releasably mountable on the filling apparatus and the dispensing apparatus. The canister may further includes a tamper-prevention apparatus adapted to prevent unauthorized access to the canister. The medication dispensing system may also include a control apparatus that controls filling of medication into and egress of medication out of the dosage compartments.
