Abstract: Methods and systems for wireless stations to wirelessly exchange configuration information using the vendor specific field of management frames (e.g. Wi-Fi™ probe request frames, Wi-Fi™ beacon frames or Wi-Fi probe response frames). Each wireless station can then use the configuration information to configure itself for a particular application or task. For example, the wireless stations may use the configuration information to determine the appropriate topology of a collection of wireless stations for the application or task. Using the management frames to exchange configuration information allows the wireless stations to exchange configuration information without being fully connected to a wireless network. This then allows the wireless stations to exchange configuration information while they are operating in a low-power mode (e.g. in a mode where the network stack is disabled).

Abstract: A high definition timing synchronization function is described. In an embodiment, a wireless station generates a time stamp at a higher resolution than can be broadcast within a standard time stamp field in a frame. The generated time stamp is divided into two parts: the first part being included within the time stamp field and the second part being included within a vendor specific field in the same frame. The frame is transmitted by the wireless station and received by other wireless stations in the wireless network. If the receiving wireless station has the capability, it decodes both the time stamp field and the vendor specific field and recreates the higher resolution time stamp. This higher resolution time stamp is then used to synchronize the receiving wireless station and the transmitting wireless station by resetting a clock or by storing time stamps and corresponding clock values.

Abstract: A method of estimating the proximity of a first device to a second device in a network causes the first device to perform a first measurement in a first period during which a control message broadcasted over the network instructs devices in the network to not transmit during the first period, wherein the second device disregards the control message and transmits a first signal during the first period which is measured by the first device during the first period, and forms a measure of the proximity of the first device to the second device in dependence on a strength of the first signal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for displaying data on a touch sensitive display (2) a detector (4) and CPU (6) detect contact with the touch sensitive display (2) and control the display of data. The system is responsive to a predetermined swiping duration of a finger on the display or to a manual selectable switch to change the display of data between a scrolling of data and a paging of data.

The canopy reflector includes a main portion (8) extending above the performance area and a projecting portion (9) projecting forwardly of a front edge of the performance area, the canopy reflector further including sound diffusion formations (13) on an underside of the main portion and the projecting portion and adapted to provide non-specular reflection of sound from the at least one sound source for enhancing sound received both in the performance area and the audience area.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for receiving an RF service. At least two RF channels 26 are received. Each channel comprises a plurality of time slice services. A selected RF service is decoded from its time sliced portion with a first RF channel in a decoder 24. During periods non-intersecting with that portion of the first RF channel data from a second RF channel is decoded to determine RF services available on the second RF channel. This data is then provided for display.
