  • Publication number: 20130152872
Abstract: A lighting fixture for deterring predation has a case containing a battery and one or more sources of illumination. A controller acts to cause random intermittent flashing of the sources of illumination because the illusion of apparent motion deters predators.

  • Publication number: 20120207954
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel packaging laminate designed particularly for packaging highly hygroscopic, pelleted, flowable materials. It is a multilayer structure which incorporates a layer of heat-sealable polymeric material which has had a thin film of aluminum deposited onto it by vapour coating. This layer combined with a further effective barrier layer provides the low WVTR in the range required by such highly hygroscopic materials. This laminate can be used with additional structural layers of paper or plastic, to form bags that have the features of very low WVTR, excellent puncture resistance, and excellent heat sealability.

  • Publication number: 20110211370
Abstract: Systems and methods of resonant DC/DC conversion disclosed herein improve the basic resonant converter designs by proactively setting and coordinating the gate drive timings between the primary side and secondary side. By proactively setting and coordinating gate drives timings between the primary side and secondary side, both efficiency and transient performance optimizations may be achieved with or without diode emulation mode, depending on whether the switching frequency is below resonance or above resonance, and the nature of the load characteristics. If the switching frequency of the converter is determined to be at or below the resonance frequency, the output transistors may be configured to be fully active at or above a predetermined output load current. The turn-on timing of the output transistors is dependant on the load for a given output voltage, and is almost independent of input voltage. Turn-on timing may be significantly different at light load to no load.

  • Patent number: 6192430
Abstract: A mixed-signal processor (MSP) chip with a flexible serial interface which simultaneously accommodates two serial ports on a reduced number of pins. The pin definitions of these serial ports are configured to function well with several different external chips. Any two of these chips, or two of any one of these chips, may be used concurrently by the present MSP. When used with chips that require it, the present MSP chip provides a clock signal to each of these. When used with other chips, the MSP will can receive a clock signal from an external chip, and will then pass this signal through to any chip on the other of the two serial ports.

  • Patent number: 4877489
Abstract: An electronic control and dosing system for desalinators (10) has a baffle, disposed between the evaporation and condensation chambers, fitted with probes (70, 71) which detect the presence of liquid created by entrained bubbles, that pass through the holes in the baffle. A control circuit (72), connected to the probes (70,71), closes a solenoid valve (62) to shut off the supply of feed water to the desalinator (10) until the threat of entrainment has passed. A foaming and/or scale inhibiting polymer, contained in a tank (64), is periodically introduced to the feed water inlet line (63) by a solenoid valve (65) controlled by a timer circuit (66).

  • Patent number: 4836759
Abstract: A reversible, self-priming rotary pump has a housing with a stator of elastomeric material which is softer than the elastomeric material of the rotor on a cam on shaft. The inlet and exhaust ports are separated by a lobe received in a recess in the stator. As the shaft is rotated, the rotor orbits within the stator to pump the fluid between the inlet and exhaust ports, the stator being at least partially compressed along the line of contact with the rotor to form an efficient seal therebetween.
