    Abstract: A sacrificial seagoing vessel comprises an automatic navigation system which is operable remotely to maintain the sacrificial vessel in a predetermined orientation and position with respect to a predetermined conventional vessel which is to be safeguarded from enemy projectiles, the sacrificial vessel being attractive to projectiles. The attraction may be provided by enhanced radar signature or by emission of signals at a substantially greater level occurring from a conventional seagoing vessel.
