  • Publication number: 20090216466
Abstract: A method and system for measuring the distribution of pressure forces over a selected area includes a sensor having an array of pressure sensing capacitance nodes formed by intersecting rows and columns, where measured capacitance of a node is compared to a fixed value of reference capacitance placed on each row that can be measured as if it was another node.

  • Publication number: 20090125288
Abstract: A computer system for modelling and controlling a hydrocarbon reservoir through management of fluid flow at individual wells. The computer system has program instructions which operate a computer model which uses oilfield production data to provide a model of future production. The model comprises an optimal regression model which represents injector and producer wells whose fluid flow characteristics are highly correlated with the fluid flow characteristics of the well of interest; the application of parsimonious information criterion techniques to identify well pairs that statistically contribute information to the optimal regression model; and a statistical reservoir model comprising the product of the optimal regression model and a significance matrix. The system is also provided with control means, responsive to the output of the computer model in order to control wells in the hydrocarbon reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20070169192
Abstract: A computer system protection method monitors and evaluates per process network communications activity to determine whether the process has been compromised. In one embodiment, a network modeling scheme gathers data to build a model and then compares networking activities to the model as they occur. In an alternate embodiment, modeling is not required and the comparison is done of network data collected at one layer of a communication system to network-related data collected at another layer. As a result of a comparison and an indication of compromise, a given remedial action is taken.

  • Publication number: 20060190218
Abstract: A generic instrumentation framework comprises two primary systems: an instrumentation generation system, and a runtime system. The instrumentation generation system creates an instrumentation generator that is specific to the system or subsystem to be instrumented. Preferably, the instrumentation generator is created by an instrumentation generation engine, which receives as input a system descriptor. The system descriptor is a set of metadata that comprise an interface specification. The instrumentation generation engine reads the system descriptor, identifies the target system, and selects an appropriate instrumentation generator. Using the system descriptor, the instrumentation generator then creates an instrumentation “package” comprising the actual instrumentation code itself (an executable) together with an instrumentation descriptor, which describes a set of one or more instrumentation points in the target system. The target system is then available to be instrumented with the instrumentation code.

  • Publication number: 20020193710
Abstract: The invention provides for an apparatus for performing physiotherapy, in particular, it provides an apparatus for stretching the hind leg muscles in isolation from the other muscle groups. In accordance with the invention, the apparatus comprises a seat and backrest mounted to a base. Further, a moveable swing arm with a heel pad at the end is pivotally attached to the base. The swing arm is actuated by actuation means such that the heel pad moves in an arc. In use the user sits on the seat and places their heel on the heel pad. In the initial position the user's leg is bent. The swing arm is then moved to a position whereby the users leg is substantially straight. The leg is held in the straightened position for a period and then is returned to the bent position. The actuation means can be a manually operated hydraulic pump.

  • Patent number: 4106613
Abstract: A conveyor belt is disclosed of the type adapted to be supported and driven by a pair of wire ropes at or adjacent its edges. The belt comprises a body of rubber reinforced by at least two sheets of fabric embedded therein. Each sheet of fabric includes transverse filaments arranged in two planes and intimately bonded to the rubber. The transverse filaments are of specified size and elasticity. The combination of these physical characteristics of the filaments and their location in the rubber body result in the transverse filaments and the rubber acting together in the manner of an I-beam in resisting transverse loads, both compressive and tensile forces produced by transverse bending being carried principally by the filaments while shear forces are principally taken by the rubber.
