  • Patent number: 11815491
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a dry gas seal positionable between a stationary housing and a rotatable shaft. A plurality of sense elements may rotate in response to the rotation of the rotatable shaft and a speed sensor may sense the speed of the rotatable shaft at speeds below one thousand rotations per minute based on sensing the plurality of sense elements. An acoustic emissions sensor may sense when a first seal face and a second seal face forming a seal interface of the dry gas seal are in an operational condition relative to one another. A processor may receive output signals from the speed sensor and the acoustic emissions sensor, and may establish an operating condition of the dry gas seal based on the signal from the speed sensor when the first seal face and the second seal face reach the operational condition relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 11796064
Abstract: A dry gas mechanical seal system configured to inhibit the emission of process gas. The mechanical seal system having tandem first and second stage seals, and a single separation gas supply subsystem configured to direct a supply of separation gas from an inlet through interfacing portions of the first stage seal into a process cavity and from the inlet through the interfacing portions of the second stage seal and out through an outlet to the atmosphere, thereby inhibiting the emission of process gas between a compressor housing and a rotating compressor shaft.

  • Patent number: 6116610
Abstract: A seal between a pair of relatively axially movable coaxial components is provided by a spring energised plastic seal which is located axially with respect to the outer component to separate a high pressure fluid area from a low pressure fluid area, the spring energised plastic seal has a plastic ring, the plastic ring defining a body portion and a pair of sealing elements, the sealing elements extending coaxially to the high pressure side of the body portion and being spaced radially by spring means, into sealing engagement with opposed surfaces of the two components, a projection extending axially from the low pressure side of the body portion adjacent the external diameter thereof, said projection engaging an axial projection on the outer component so that engagement thereof will support the plastic ring radially.
