  • Publication number: 20030223314
Abstract: A portable alarm clock is provided. The alarm clock comprises a base receptacle sized and shaped for portability. A striking plate is secured and receivable within the base receptacle with a striking mechanism secured to the striking plate. A chime plate is secured to the striking plate with an chime bar secured to the chime plate. A clock mechanism programs chime functions and displays time and is hingedly secured to the chime plate. A cover is secured to the clock mechanism for closing the base receptacle wherein the striking plate, the striking mechanism, the chime plate, the acoustic chime bar, and the clock means are receivable within the base receptacle and the cover closing the base receptacle.

  • Publication number: 20030112990
Abstract: An expandable in-ear device being implantable within an ear canal of an individual and being customizable in-situ to the shape of the ear canal, and cavum concha, using a settable compound. The device includes a core-form with a nipple extending from a platform, the nipple and the platform being insertable into the ear canal and the cavum concha, respectively. A sound bore extends through the nipple from a position located outside the ear canal to a position located inside for allowing sound transmission therethrough. A deformable sheath attached integrally to the core-form is deformable between an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration. In the unfolded configuration, the sheath extends generally away from the core-form. The sheath is foldable inside-out from the unfolded configuration to the folded configuration wherein the sheet substantially covers the core-form while defining a spacing between the sheath and the core-form, the spacing being fillable by the settable compound.

  • Patent number: 6339648
Abstract: The device comprises a core, surrounded by a thin sheath so as to form a chamber that can be inflated. Inflation is done while the device is inside the ear, using an inflation tool. The tool injects a solid-setting fluid into the chamber. After curing, the tool is detached, leaving a finished in-ear unit, upon which no further manufacturing processing is required.

  • Patent number: 5384468
Abstract: Apparatus for indicating the thickness of a document being fed along a feed path comprises cooperating upper and lower roll sets (20 and 32) between which a document passes. The lower roll set (20) is driven by the document transport, while the upper roll set (32) is rotatably mounted on a pivotally mounted arm (36), which is urged by a spring (42) to cause the upper roll set (32) to move toward engagement with the lower roll set (20). The upper roll set (32) includes a central cylindrical portion (30) of reduced diameter. A further roll (46) is mounted so that its circumference is normally spaced from the surface of the cylindrical portion by a predetermined distance. A timing disc (52) is mounted for rotation with the further roll (46), and a sensing device (58) is associated with the timing disc (52) to generate pulses as the further roll (46) rotates.

  • Patent number: 4535715
Abstract: A deck ventilator suitable for small vessels is formed as a low dome 12. Outside air may enter it through window 14 and then circulate around member 30, through orifice 22 and down duct 7 which pierces deck 4. Member 30 usually serves merely as a shield against spray, however if a surge of water enters compartment 18 the orifice 22 is closed by movement of member 30 which is slidably hinged to U-shaped rods 23. This closing movement results from the combination of the impact of the water on member 30 and the member's inherent buoyancy.
