    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a combination horseshoe and impact pad that dampens the shock of impact and prevents impact pad distortion when the hoof strikes the ground. The impact pad includes a retainer member fixed to the hoof and bonded to the horseshoe top surface along the toe portion of the hoof, and a liquid cast dual-hardness polyurethane cushion member bonded to the remaining horseshoe top surface and coupled to the retainer member so that the retainer member provides a barrier that prevents the cushion member from distorting when the hoof strikes the ground.
