  • Publication number: 20080028118
Abstract: A portable dock for a portable computing system is disclosed. The portable dock includes a hand carryable housing for attaching to a docking port of a portable computing system, wherein the housing is not required to enclose the portable computing system. A power supply transformer is also coupled with the housing. Additionally, a network connectivity module is coupled with the housing, wherein the network connectivity module is a wired network connectivity module when the portable computing device is coupled with the portable dock and wherein the network connectivity module is a wireless network connectivity module when the portable computing system is not coupled with the portable dock.

  • Patent number: 6897833
Abstract: A portable user interface that provides remote access to the capabilities of a desktop computer system. The portable user interface includes a base station that obtains image and/or other data from the computer system. The image and/or other data may be generated by any of the wide variety of available applications for the computer system using the powerful resources of the computer system. The base station compresses the data, and transmits the data via a communication link. The portable user interface includes a screen-pad that receives the data via the communication link, decompresses the data, and displays an image defined by the image data and renders other data as appropriate. The screen-pad relays keyboard, mouse, and other data back to the base station via the communication link and the base station provides the data to the computer system as if from a local keyboard and mouse, etc.

  • Publication number: 20040070563
Abstract: An imaging device is disclosed that is portable and is adapted to be worn on or about the body of a user. The imaging device includes a light source that emits a beam of light and a scanning optical assembly for steering the light beam biaxially onto an external surface thereby generating an image. In one embodiment, the light beam is a laser. The image can be viewed on a variety of surfaces, e.g., a user's hand or tabletop. An interaction means can be included for interaction between the user and the projected image. The imaging device can communicate with external computing devices, such as, devices connected via a personal area network. The imaging device does not require the user to focus the image when projecting it onto surfaces having different distances. Power consumption of the imaging device is minimized.
