  • Patent number: 7865275
Abstract: A method and controller for controlling electric vehicles wherein an output level to an output device is determined on the basis of timing information of input timing data. In one embodiment the timing data is provided on the basis of the duration of one or more user input device, such as one or more buttons. Different algorithms may be applied depending upon the duration of activation of the input device. An electric vehicle including the controller is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080278302
Abstract: An electric vehicle and display device for an electric vehicle having a plurality of display elements (including 10a, 10d and 10j). In one embodiment display elements (10a, 10d) are actuated in proportion to the ratio of actual vehicle speed to the maximum allowable speed for a given mode of operation. In another embodiment a display element (10j) is driven to indicate the maximum allowable speed for a selected mode of 10d operation. In another embodiment the estimated speed of the electric vehicle is based upon user input only.

  • Publication number: 20070167074
Abstract: A junction box to seal the contents from the effects of dust and moisture while providing convenient access inside the box. In the invention provides a connection system for communication media that includes: (a) a housing defining an internal cavity and an opening to allow access; (b) one or more apertures extending through the housing to the cavity, each aperture adapted to receive communications media; (c) one or more connectors mounted within the cavity adapted to interconnect the communications media extending through the aperture(s); and (d) a cover adapted to cooperate with the housing to define an air reservoir containing at least a portion of the housing including the opening, the reservoir and the housing cooperating to prevent fluid entering the cavity. Also provided is an apparatus for conveniently raising and lowering the junction box in and out of a below ground cavity.

  • Patent number: 5436086
Abstract: An apparatus for processing fuel gases, in particular for a fuel cell, includes primary and secondary catalytic oxidation means for the oxidation of carbon monoxide in a reformed fuel gas flow. Small quantities of oxygen required for the secondary oxidation are provided by passing the oxygen through a first oxygen permeable membrane. The oxygen may be supplied as air, pure oxygen or an oxygenated solution. An oxygen fuel supply to the fuel cell may additionally be humidified by allowing water to pass from a water flow across a further membrane into the oxygen supply. Oxygen passing across the further membrane in the opposite sense to the water may serve to oxygenate the water for supplying to the first membrane.

  • Patent number: 5401589
Abstract: The invention is drawn to an electrical power generation system and a method of electrical power generation. The system includes a supply of hydrogen-containing fuel and a reformer for obtaining hydrogen therefrom, a supply of oxygen and a material for producing an exothermic reaction. The system also includes a fuel cell and means for disposing of waste products arising from the fuel cell and other parts of the system, a control means and heat exchange means for regulating flow streams and balancing the heating and cooling requirements. The reformer comprises a reforming chamber, inlet and outlet for the fuel. Also the reformer includes a second chamber which surrounds the reforming chamber and a preheating chamber. Fins extend through a wall separating the reforming and surrounding chamber.
