  • Patent number: 11905987
Abstract: A security plug (10) adapted to be inserted into the female socket (18) of a fastener (20) to prevent a tool, such as an Allen key, engaging in the female socket. The plug (10) has an outer surface (22) complementary to the female socket (18) and a retaining member (14) that retains the plug (10) in the female socket (18), and at least one removal portion (26, 70) adapted to be engaged by a second tool (100), whereby engagement of the second tool (100) and the plug (10) allows forces applied by the second tool (100) to the plug (10) to withdraw the plug from the female socket against the action of the retaining member. The second tool and the removal portion (26, 70) may have complementary self-holding tapers and the retaining member (14) may be a magnet or one or more biased members that engage side walls(s) of the female socket.

  • Patent number: 8622929
Abstract: A device (1410) for collecting a blood sample from an animal has a holder for holding a sampling media (1456), one or more spikes (1418) that first pass through the sampling media (1456) and penetrate into the flesh of the animal to create a puncture site to allow blood emerging from the site to be collected by the sampling media (1456) during and/or after penetration of the flesh. The device has a retainer (1427) for temporarily retaining the device (1410) on the animal whilst blood is collected and for allowing the device (1410) to be removed from the animal substantially intact for subsequent removal of the sampling media (1456) from the device.

  • Publication number: 20110071469
Abstract: A needle assembly (10) has a hollow tubular housing (12) and a needle sub assembly (14) including a needle (18) slideably mounted therein. Two diametrically opposed legs (30) extend radially outwards and backwards from the needle shaft (16) and engage the rear end (42) of the housing (12) surrounding an aperture (74) through which the rear of the shaft (16) extends. The legs hold the subassembly (14) in an extended state against the action of a spring (52). Two diametrically opposed arms (70) overlie the legs (30) when the needle sub assembly (14) is extended and which may be squeezed together to compress the legs (30) inwards and allow the legs (30) to pass through the aperture (74) under the action of the spring (52) allowing the needle subassembly (14) to retract and draw the point (26) of the needle (18) into the housing (12).

  • Publication number: 20100094170
Abstract: A device (1410) for collecting a blood sample from an animal on sampling media placed (1456) next to the animal's flesh, the device comprising holding means () for holding the sampling media (1456) for placement on the flesh of an animal; spike means (1418) operable to first pass through the sampling media (1456) and to then penetrate into the flesh of the animal to create a puncture site to allow blood emerging from the site to be collected by the sampling media (1456) during and/or after penetration of the flesh, and retaining means (1427) for temporarily retaining the device (1410) on the animal whilst blood is collected on the sampling media and for allowing the device (1410) to be removed from the animal substantially intact for subsequent removal of the sampling media (1456) with the blood from the device.
