Publication number: 20180105121Abstract: A vehicle trim portion connection bracket is provided. The bracket includes a first flange having a connecting portion configured to be coupled to a trim portion and a second flange configured to be coupled to a support member of the vehicle. The support member is configured to be coupled to a body of the vehicle. A relief slot is provided in the first flange and configured to reduce a load required to deform the connecting portion relative to a remaining portion of the first flange, such that the connecting portion may be deformed without disrupting the coupling between the bracket and the support member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2017Publication date: April 19, 2018Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Brian Westgarth, Ian Patterson, Jack Whitehurst, Rob Swann

Publication number: 20170342755Abstract: A vehicle has a sliding door fitted with a rotatable brake member to apply a braking force to the sliding door when the vehicle is on a slope. The brake member is automatically rotated about a pivot axis X-X by a moveable member forming part of an actuator when the vehicle is resting on a slope into a position in which a braking force is applied to the sliding door by the interaction of the brake member with an elongate track in the form of a sliding door support track.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2017Publication date: November 30, 2017Inventors: Jack Whitehurst, Brian Westgarth, Rob Swann, Ian Patterson

Patent number: 9340907Abstract: The invention relates to a yarn containing siliconized micro-denier polyester fibers and macro-denier fibers. The blending ratio of the siliconized micro-denier polyester fibers and macro-denier fibers in the yarn ranges between about 10 to about 90 and about 90 to about 10 percent by weight. The macro-denier fiber of the yarn is selected from the group consisting of a synthetic fiber, a natural fiber, and a combination of synthetic and natural fibers. The invention also relates to a woven or knitted fabric and articles of clothing containing the yarn of the invention, either alone or in combination with other yarns.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2006Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignee: PRIMALOFT, INC.Inventor: Ian Patterson

Patent number: 9290117Abstract: A lock assembly for selectively and releasably holding a pivoting armrest of a vehicle in place relative to an adjacent seat back is disclosed. The lock assembly includes a first locking element fixedly attached to the seat back and a second locking element movably attached to the armrest. Both locking elements have engagement surfaces whereby the second locking element is releasably engageable with the first locking element. The first locking element includes a cover that, together with a base, defines a pocket. The second locking element includes a spring loaded attachment assembly. The assembly provides operator-movable attachment to the armrest. The second locking element further includes an engagement portion on which the engagement surface is formed and an anchoring portion. An operator-manipulable release tab extends from the engagement portion and through the tab-passing slot of the first locking element when the first and second locking elements are engaged.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2012Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Shane A. Publication number: 20120147820Abstract: Distributed assembly of data packets into messages at a group of interface devices that receive data packets from within a coverage area. Each interface device in the group will take ownership of a sequence of data packets forming a message when a data packet of the message meeting predetermined criteria is received by that interface device. Once an interface device takes ownership of a sequence of data packets, it sends a request to the other interface devices for any missing data packets of the sequence that the ownership claiming interface does not have, and then assembles message upon receiving all the data packets of the sequence.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2012Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: RESEARCH IN MOTION LIMITEDInventors: Ahmed E. Patent number: 7715825Abstract: One method involves the steps of causing a message to be sent to a relay network for delivery to a mobile device through one of a plurality of wireless networks coupled to the relay network; receiving, from the relay network, a result message when the mobile device is unavailable to receive the message, the result message comprising a message identifier; maintaining storage of the message in memory accessible by a host server after the result message is received; receiving, from the relay network, a status message which indicates that the mobile device is available to receive the message when the mobile device is available to receive the message; and causing the message to be sent again to the relay network for delivery to the mobile device in response to receiving the status message. During the unavailability, the relay network refrains from maintaining storage of the message.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2005Date of Patent: May 11, 2010Assignee: Research In Motion LimitedInventors: Allan David Lewis, James Godfrey, Wen Gao, Tabitha Kari Ferguson, Ian Patterson

Publication number: 20090178446Abstract: A lock is disclosed to clamp a wheel of a motor vehicle or motor cycle to prevent its theft once parked. The locking device comprises a housing (1) having a base (2), a front face (3), an opposing rear face (4), two opposing side faces (5,6) and a hinged lid (7) to cover the internals of the housing (1). Pivoting arcuate arms (10,15) extend from the housing (1), A linkage comprises three links (20,21,22) extending between the arms (10,15). The wheel (41) of a vehicle is pushed against the linkage (20,21,22) causing the arms (10, 15) to assume a closed position flanking the rim of the wheel (41). A locking mechanism (39) is then turned to the locked position and the key removed thus preventing movement of the arms (10,15) to any open position. To release the wheel (41), the locking mechanism (39) is first unlocked and the wheel (41) then moved in a direction away from the front face (3), the arms (10,15) being moved by the wheel (41) in an outwards direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2006Publication date: July 16, 2009Inventor: Ian Patterson
