Abstract: A composite constructional element 1 comprises a plank profile 2 defining a rear face 6 and two opposed edge sections 4 and 5 of the constructional element. Each edge section includes an edge face 4a,5a. A cladding material 3 is moulded into the plank profile to extend continuously between the opposed edge faces such that it is retained by the rear face and the opposed edge faces. The plank profile may further comprise retaining formations 4b,5d shaped to retain the moulded cladding material attached to the plank profile. A method of manufacturing the composite constructional element is also disclosed.

Abstract: A building system for securing a plurality of adjacent constructional elements to form a wall includes at least two opposed posts positioned in use to define a space therebetween and adapted to secure respective ends of the elements, such that element ends within the space are communicable with each other through the space. The constructional element includes a rectangular structural member; primary cladding for covering the structural member and extending around sides and edges of the structural member such that at least one end of the structural member protrudes beyond the edge of the cladding at the sides and edges of the structural member; and secondary cladding on one or more sides of the primary cladding. Cladding is formed about the structural member such that, on the rear face of the constructional element, at least an end portion of the structural member is exposed.

Abstract: A constructional element (100), building system and method of construction is disclosed. The building system and method of construction utilise the constructional element (100). The construction element (100) is elongate and includes a hollow structural member (102) and cladding (104) formed about at least part of the structural member (102). Abutment means (107, 108) are formed in at least part of the cladding's (104) perimeter for mutual abutment and alignment with abutment means (107, 108) on an adjacent constructional element (100). At least one end (120, 122) of the structural member (102) protrudes from the cladding (104). A building system and method of construction are also disclosed, both of which utilise the constructional element (100).
