  • Publication number: 20220040069
Abstract: The invention provides a dispersion of precursor titanium dioxide particles having an intensity mean peak value particle size, measured by DLS, or a number mean peak value particle size, measured by DLS, in the range from 0.2 to 2.0 ?m within a dispersing medium, wherein the particle size distribution of the titanium dioxide particles in dispersion is narrower than the particle size distribution of the precursor titanium dioxide particles. There is also provided the use of the dispersion of titanium dioxide particles to attenuate infrared radiation, particularly in a cosmetic composition, more particularly a cosmetic composition to provide protection against IR radiation, more particularly IRA radiation. There is also provided a personal care composition comprising the titanium dioxide dispersion.

  • Patent number: 10869826
Abstract: A particulate metal oxide has a metal oxide core and a coating layer containing an inorganic material and (i) a quaternary silane coupling agent, and/or (ii) a silane coupling agent and a hydrophobizing agent. Preferred materials are titanium dioxide core particles, an amino organosilane coupling agent and a fatty acid hydrophobizing agent. The particulate metal oxide is suitable for use in forming a dispersion, and the particles and dispersion can be used in an end-use sunscreen composition which is transparent, exhibits effective UV absorption properties, reduced photoactivity, and/or improved skin feel.

  • Patent number: 9682869
Abstract: A particulate titanium dioxide has a median volume particle diameter of greater than 70 nm. The titanium dioxide can be produced by calcining precursor particles. The titanium dioxide has enhanced UVA efficacy. The particulate titanium dioxide can be used to form dispersions. The particulate titanium dioxide or dispersions can be used to produce sunscreen products having a UV protection which is at least one third of the label SPF value.

  • Patent number: 9421159
Abstract: A protein-acrylate copolymer contains at least one nitrogen containing acrylic monomer. The nitrogen containing acrylic monomer preferably contains a tertiary or quaternary amine group, and particularly a quaternary amine group. The protein-acrylate copolymer can be produced by reacting hydrolyzed protein with at least one nitrogen containing acrylic monomer, preferably by free-radical polymerization. The protein-acrylate copolymer is suitable for use in personal care or cosmetic products, particularly in hair care products where it can increase volume to hair.

  • Publication number: 20100264383
Abstract: A UV absorbing polymeric composition has an E308/E524 and/or E360/E524 ratio of greater than 4, and contains an organic resin and zinc oxide particles. The composition is particularly suitable for use in producing an end-use product, preferably in the form of a polymeric film, exhibiting UV absorbing properties and improved transparency. In one embodiment, the composition may be produced from a masterbatch composition containing an organic resin, an organic dispersing medium and zinc oxide particles. The masterbatch is preferably prepared by mixing a pre-dispersion of the zinc oxide particles in the organic dispersing medium, with the organic resin.
