  • Patent number: 7146144
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing high dynamic range operation over a variable range of frequencies. A delta-sigma modulator, having associated frequency characteristics, produces a digital output signal. A digital-to-analog converter converts the digital output signal into an analog signal. A clock circuit provides a clock signal to the delta-sigma modulator and the digital-to-analog converter. A frequency control controls one or more of the clock circuit, the delta-sigma modulator, and the digital-to-analog converter to alter the frequency characteristics of the delta-sigma modulator. A filter circuit can provide one or more passbands to one or more downstream amplifiers ensuring that out of band quantization noise is removed before amplification.

  • Patent number: 7129778
Abstract: An amplification system and method is provided that employs a digital cross-cancellation technique which provides a separate digital signal to be input to a separate DAC to generate a cancellation signal. The cancellation signal is added to the output of the amplifier to produce a final signal with substantially reduced distortion and/or out-of-band emissions. The cancellation signal can be pre-computed or derived by generating an inverted version of the wanted signal, and combining it with a portion of the output signal to determine the error or unwanted portion of the output signal. This error signal is then combined with a delayed version of the output signal.

  • Publication number: 20060165039
Abstract: A reader device for locating and tracking multiple tags includes a plurality of closely packed antenna circuits and at least one controller configured to control the plurality of closely packed antenna circuits. The at least one controller is configured to activate one or more of the antenna circuits to generate at least one resonance signal field configured to interrogate at least one tag associated with the one or more active antenna circuits while substantially preventing or reducing cross-coupling of signals between the one or more active antenna circuits and at least one antenna circuit within the at least one resonance signal field to a sufficiently low level, wherein the sufficiently low level substantially prevents misreads from unwanted tags, to thereby track the multiple tags in a substantially controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 7057455
Abstract: An amplification system and method is provided that reduces peaks associated with an input signal, and provides correction, in one or more spectral bands, to signal distortion and out-of-band emissions that result from the peak reduction. The correction signal that removes signal distortion and OOB emissions associated with the peak reduction can be calculated or electronically derived. The correction signal can be combined with the peak reduced signal prior to or after amplification of the peak reduced input signal.

  • Publication number: 20060117095
Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, receive an allocation request for a resource and registers the resource as a non-voting participant if the resource desires to delegate commit voting to another resource. The registered resource is then prohibited from participating in an enclosing transactional context and instead is informed when the transaction completes. The resource is enlisted as a voting participant if the resource does not desire to delegate commit voting. In this way, when multiple resources are used in a transaction, a resource may be registered and receive notifications of transaction completion instead of being enlisted and voting on commit decisions. The result of a transaction in which a single resource takes responsibility for a number of other resources is that transaction completion avoids the two-phase commit protocol and the resulting performance degradation.

  • Patent number: 7043213
Abstract: An amplifier system is provided that switches between a linear mode of operation, an envelope tracking mode of operation and a polar mode of operation. The amplifier system switches between modes of operation based upon a characteristic of an input signal relative to a first threshold level and a second threshold level. A mode selector selects the operation mode by transmitting an amplitude modulated signal plus a variable headroom voltage to a supply terminal of a power amplifier during the envelope tracking mode, an amplitude modulated signal to the supply terminal and phase modulated input signal during the polar mode and a substantially constant amplitude signal to the supply terminal during the linear mode.

  • Patent number: 7026868
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining and providing an appropriate variable voltage supply to a power amplifier. A power amplifier is operative to amplify an input signal. A digital buffer stores a copy of the input signal representing a predetermined interval of time. An envelope profiler analyzes the buffered interval of the input signal and determines an appropriate supply signal profile for the power amplifier over the predetermined time interval. A supply control provides a supply signal according to the determined profile.

  • Patent number: 7023426
Abstract: A user input device has a body portion extending from a first end to a second end and having a plurality of keys, for example keys that may be arranged and configured to be a keyboard, and an optical motion element. A wireless transmitter transmits data entered through the keys to a target component, for example a computer, a PDA, a digital watch, and the like. The user input device may include a hinged panel having some of the keys, and when the hinged panel is in an open configuration, the arrangement of the keys may be similar to an alphanumeric keyboard. The optical motion element may be an optical mouse for controlling a cursor on a display, when the hinged panel is open. When the hinged panel is closed the optical motion element may be configured to serve as a digital pen, for sensing natural writing, pen motions used to control a display, such as cursor location or to make selections on a menu, for example.

  • Patent number: 6963297
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for converting a digital signal into an analog signal. A digital-to-analog converter assembly comprises a delta-sigma modulator, a digital-to-analog converter, an analog filter, and a comb filter. The delta-sigma modulator processes a digital input signal to produce a digital output signal having at least one associated high dynamic range frequency band. • Publication number: 20050222946
Abstract: A data processing method, apparatus, computer program product, and service for assuring timely execution of compensation for non-transactional work which is carried out in a transaction under which a data item is processed. A lock is taken before the data item is processed and, in the event the transaction fails, the same lock is also obtained before the data item is re-processed. As a result, re-processing of the data item is held until the lock obtained by the failed transaction is released and this is only done once compensation of non-transactional work is complete. Thus, compensation completes before the message is re-processed.

  • Publication number: 20050144171
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, apparatus, computer program product, and service which enables a transaction manager in a first system to co-ordinate database updates made in a second system database without requiring communication with the second system during transaction completion processing (commit or rollback) or any requirement for transaction logging or involvement in transaction recovery in the second system. This is achieved by carrying out the database updates in the second system in an XA transaction branch that is started are co-ordinated in the first system. Further this is done transparently to the application in the second server which makes the updates and enables the application in the first and second server to share locks such that both can access the same database.
