  • Patent number: 10174733
Abstract: An oil lubricated common rail diesel pump includes a pumping assembly and a drivetrain assembly. The pumping assembly includes a pump housing and a plunger mounted along a pumping axis. The drivetrain assembly includes a driveshaft and a cam mounted within a first chamber of a drivetrain housing. The plunger is arranged for reciprocating linear movement along the pumping axis within a second chamber of the housing upon rotation of the cam. The drivetrain assembly also includes a guide mounted within the housing between the cam and the plunger and being adapted to receive a cam follower. At least the housing is adapted to be substantially filled with oil in use and the guide includes at least one flow passage communicating between the first chamber and the second chamber.

  • Publication number: 20180017030
Abstract: A plunger assembly for a high pressure fuel pump head, wherein an axial internal drilling provided in a first plunger section, and a clearance between the first and a second plunger section, are exposed to a pumping fuel pressure, and wherein a pressure gradient along an outside wall of the first section and the bore, and pressure within the drilling and clearance, results in an increasing deformation of the first section and thereby a decreasing clearance between the first section and the bore, moving towards the second section, thereby providing sealing from one end of the plunger to the opposite end.

  • Patent number: 6302659
Abstract: A multi-chamber positive displacement pump comprises a unitary housing in which is formed a plurality of cylinders. A pumping plunger is slidably mounted in each cylinder to define a pumping chamber. Means are provided for reciprocating the pumping plungers in order cyclically to vary the volume of the pumping chambers to effect delivery of a pumped fluid from the pumping chambers. A delivery passage is connected to each of the pumping chambers to receive pumped fluid therefrom, the delivery passage comprising at least one gallery formed in the unitary housing and open to an end face of the housing and passageways which extend through the unitary housing from the galleries to the pumping chambers. The galleries are closed by an end plate which is secured to the unitary housing. Feed passages and working fluid passages may likewise be defined by combination of galleries in the end face and passageways in the unitary housing.

  • Patent number: 5810569
Abstract: A pump is disclosed having a variable cam arrangement under the influence of which a plunger is reciprocable. The variable cam arrangement comprises a plurality of cam rings which in an embodiment of the pump are relatively moveable in order to adjust the shape of the effective cam surface of the cam arrangement, and hence adjust the delivery rate of the pump.
