Patent number: 11904424Abstract: A dust extractor for a drill is provided, including a single air flow path, a shroud having an internal chamber for collecting dust in fluid communication with a first end of the single air flow path, a filter assembly located in the single air flow path, a vacuum source connected to a second end of the single air flow path, and an air flow control mechanism controlling a direction of air flow generated by the vacuum source. During a normal operation, the vacuum source draws air and entrained debris from the internal chamber of the shroud through the single air flow path. During a back flush operation, the vacuum source blows air and entrained debris through the single air flow path towards the shroud. The air passes through the filter assembly to remove the entrained debris in either direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2017Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: Black & Decker, Inc.Inventors: Markus Rompel, Ian S. Bell, Uwe Nemetz

Patent number: 9180585Abstract: When the mode change knob of a multi-mode hammer drill is moved to the hammer only position, an electronic sensor sends a signal to a control logic circuit. When the user then depresses the trigger mechanically closing the ON/OFF switch, the control logic circuit applies a voltage either to a holding relay or to the gate of a triac which enables the relay or triac to conduct, thus providing a parallel circuit by-passing the ON/OFF switch. Consequently, when the user releases the trigger and opens the ON/OFF switch, the parallel relay or triac maintains current flow to the motor. It can be seen that in hammer only mode the user can activate the hammer drill by simply tapping the trigger to depress it and does not need to hold down trigger during use of the hammer in operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2010Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Achim Jung, René Jäger, Ian S.
