    Abstract: This invention refers to forest video monitoring. A distributed system for forest video monitoring and a method for fire detection implemented by it have been proposed. The system comprises: multiple video servers, with each video server maintaining at least one video camera; at least one object server; and multiple computer terminals. According to the method, such a video server is used to: receive video data from its video camera; analyze the video data in order to detect signs of fire; when detecting signs of fire, create a potentially hazardous data object related to the possible fire detected, with reference to the video data where signs of fire have been detected; and send the data object created to an object server.
